Camouflage...

Question; when out ferreting I rarely wear camo (don't see the point) so do people think that there is a gain to be had (personally I think it draws attention to yourself from the antis if they see you whilst walking there dog) - If I'm out with a gun and ferrets I will in case I walk something up.

Define camo?   I've ferreted a few places wearing hi viz and overalls. Fit right in and everyone though we were landscaping!   Camo is about blending in with your surroundings?

Camo gear is cheap... or sometimes free ...   The DPM stuff is hardwearing... and dries quickly...   Thats why i wear the trousers... just because its there...   I try not to wear camo jackets

I've worn all sorts over the years, and kneeled quietly up behind a bury, in the guise of a Jap Sniper, a Congo Mercenary and even a Navy Admiral..!

Never helped me much though,...I still can't catch feck all..

I have two sets of hunting gear. One lot is dpm camo - perks are the naterials dont make much noise, loads of pockets, cheap and I don't care if I rip, stain or ruin them. Not that warm when shooting at night for me. Summer is fine.

The second lot are Black cargo police trousers. Lots of zips and I wear wax chaps over them to keep the wet out when shooting. I wear an old black waterproof coat with zip pockets. Perks are that its warmer, dryer, not so obvious and blends in well at night when lamping.

I try not to wear camo jackets as it looks a bit 'keen' ...

Which is why ive got a danish army goretex desert jacket...takes the edge of the 'full sniper' camo effect... when i have to wear one to keep dry...

But i usually just wear camo trousers with a green softy jacket on...

I wouldnt give a shiit about the anti's.... if you were wearing a suit and shoes...carrying a ferret box with a whippet in tow.....

Theyd phone the police....

As said it's cheap. . . . . but it also comes in green.

I've recently acquired a new lamping coat, a Serbian army number, with a back pocket ideal for holding a fair few coneys, . . . . or the loot from some plundered Bosnian village. . . .

What do you think to those army gortex over trousers ,,you can get them for around £20 depending on size,, on line,,, or from anchor army surplus .... They look strong and hard wearing,,, you can get them in normal English style camo,,, or the desert sandy colour......is there any difference apart from colour...

I wear a dpm jacket I bought for shooting years ago I think I only paid £15 for it. I only realy wear it for ferreting because it has pockets for locator knife a few nets etc. If its raining I wear my hi vis orange work coat doesn't seem to make a difference.
