Country Joe 1,411
With a sizeable part of Southern Britain flooded, and still being in recession should foreign aid be stopped till this Country gets back on its feet. After all talk about closing the stable door after the horse has bolted, Mr Pickles on the Andrew Marr show today, said money would be put up to start dredging all affected rivers and streams on the flood plain. I thought the main reason dredging had stopped, was to save money.
paulus 26
read somewhere it was stopped as part of an EU directive over 25 years ago,
walshie 2,804
I bet if some third world shithole had the flooding we had, we'd be giving them a lot more aid than our own people seem to be receiving. Ridiculous.
Wildling 520
It should of been stopped 30+ years ago...............

talt 878
I firmly believe charity begins at home. Lets sort out the floods, our homeless, our poor before we send any more money abroad.
TOPPER 1,809
it should deff be stopped , and as for dredging thats down to the educated idiots at the EV if and when they do any dredging they have a man there with an oxygen metre and as soon as the oxygen level drops they stop dredge normally 10 min s after they started , the EV are very good at doing nothing they have an exuse for everything fact , the Ev are good at spending our money they have 1.2 vehicles for every emplyee they also have loads of expensive machiney that never gets used , there all right arrogant twats from chris smith down one even said the flooding we have down here was a great success how the fck he works that out god only knows he s ovouisly not flooded out there all a fckin joke and need sacking it wouldnt be so bad but they have been told for years to dredge the rivers then 14 months ago it flooded and everyman and his dog kicked up telling them to dredge even the guys at the drainage board told them then 14 months later and look at the disaster down here if theyed done what was needed it would have been a relativly cheap job now it will run into 10 s f millions and as for the wildlife its all gone drowned or starved so what have they acchived chaos and mayhem and a boat load of misery fck all else
Wildling 520
Didn't they stop dredging due to the worry of disrupting fish breeding ?
General lee 979
Yes is should be stopped immediately
Wildling 520
Surly the farmers need to cough up a bit as well and have all the old perimeter field ditches dug out to give a good flow into the natural waterways and rivers. I can remember my old man telling me that ditches were always dug out and maintained years ago by farm hands or roaming workers.
TOPPER 1,809
since the EV took it all over farmers are not allowed to clear ditchs etc for fear of upsetting some bizzy body at the eco friedly moron society the best bit is the drainage board hate the EV with a passion as anything they want to do ie clear a ryne out they have to go cap in hand and ask permission from the EV and naturrel england and the drainage board have a million pound a year swiped of there budget to give to the EV to waste it fckin comical
Wildling 520
f***ing hell you couldn't make it up, so the EV don't want the ditches dug up for what reason ? Surly a well maintained ditch and hedge line is good for all involved, including wildlife that are now flooded out..........!
TOPPER 1,809
a normal man would never dream it up , its all quangos and exotic meetings in the bahamas on who can waste the most money a farmer go prosicuted last year for digging a peat bogg out so his cattle could get down to the water in the river ffs
Brigzy 1,298
Why are we still sending aid money to China, a nuclear power and one of the worlds biggest economies ? Why are we still sending aid money to India, a nuclear power with it's own space program ? Why are we still sending aid money to Pakistan, a nuclear power and the biggest terrorist state in the world ? These aren't rhetorical questions... I honestly would like some one in government to give us some answers !! Huge parts of the country devastated by floods, but they aren't foreign lands... if they were you can bet your life we would be sending everything we could; remember the Phillipines just a couple of year ago, we couldn't do enough when parts of it were flooded !! Surely we should look after our own first ???????????
ChrisJones 7,975
The bad news is that they're never going to stop sending it. Unless we change those who manage it. Vote UKIP
