Ridgeline V Rivers Wear Smock

Recommended Posts

Riverswest i know nothing about

Ridge-line. Smock. I have. All depends what you want the smock will keep you warm and dry. In extream conditions the down side is you sweat a lot in it but if you wear. A fleece this sorts it ,

Now some one mentioned nomad. Again great keep you warm and dry but instead of Deflecting the water it absorbs it they it goes down to the bottom and there fooking expensive , ridge line are exerlant Value and with the roar pant you have a full water wind proof suit

Looking for something which will keep me dry, but not make me sweat, and also comfortable, and has a nice lining in it not plastic stuff, mainly for stalking and pigeon shooting

. Either for stalking Or pigeon shooting depends on how much you want to spend

I've got a rivers west smock mate i wore it once when we were stalking in the highlands and when I came off the hill I rung my shirt out it was that wet and I'm not unfit, for sitting about in a pigeon hide/ducks or ferreting etc its good even low ground stalking/beating or walking about lamping its ok but any decent amount of walking you will get soaked if not with sweat then condensation. Never had the ridge line but I heard the same about them. I've went back to te old see land beaters jacket and deerhunter ram jacket 90% of the time now if its not weather for a fleece. Depends how hard your stalking is I suppose if its just walking about and not hard going both should be fine but if its hard going I'd look elsewhere

get yourself a swazi

I had a ray mears Swazi jacket, the only thing I'd rate higher on them , compared to the ridgeline monsoon2 is the cuffs, and for the £200+ price difference, il happily stick with the ridgeline.

IMO you'll not sweat in it if your pigeon shooting or stalking. As has been said , ridgeline sizes are small.

without a doubt the ridgeline is very waterproof but if I,m going out on a wet day that involves a lot of walking I always take the swazi, always found the ridgeline sweats me like wearing a binliner.

didn,t know swazi was made in china, I have trousers and whapiti coat both made in nz
