Insurance

Recommended Posts

I'm just taking out a new insurance policy on the van.

I've been with Dial Direct for a few years, and the renewal was £60 per month which seemed a bit too steep. I've gone to Compare the Market, and got some quotes including Dial Direct who are offering to do it for less than £20 on there...

Any recommendations, or companies to watch?

Thanks for that. Just the kind of information I wanted.

I'm feeling a bit of a dick really. I've blindly allowed the policy to renew year after year and not bothered looking at the price. It looks like I've been shafted.

Price isn't really an issue; I've got dozens of quotes on CtM most of which are less than £25 per month. What concerns me is that some of these companies are rubbish and I would rather pay a bit more and know I was dealing with a good one.

Seems like insurance has gone down this year, for the first time I can remember my quote for Feb is going to be less than the previous year.

41 years old, not had a point for 14 years, not had a claim for even longer and don't drive to work (restricted mileage) and last year it was still 460 quid

DONT go with octagon!!

I was hit head on whilst I was sat stationary at a junction by a drunk driver.

He fell out of his car. Staggered to his feet. Wobbled across the road to inspect the damage. Mumbled something along the lines of "damage blah blah my car"!!?? ( he was Feckin trollied. He got back in his car and drove off!! Pranging a further 3 cars in doing so.

The old bill picked him up half hour later and he was locked up and charged. 5 times over the limit.

Fortunately he was insured but this didn't really count for much.

My insurance company "octagon" fought me all the way and left us without a family vehicle over Christmas.

They insisted we drove our wrote off vehicle. As it was drive able although not fit for purpose and un roadworthy.

Lost our car........? When they finally collected it.

When they managed to find it (after a month) valued it at £190!! Which was lower than our excess so we owed them a tenner!!

Apparently it had bald tyres but they couldn't decide how many and the engineer wrote on the report that this was not a result of the accident without driving the car!!

The interior of the car was dirty so that lowered the value!! For which I apologised and explained that the next time I get run off the road by a drink driver I will make sure to have the car valeted.

The list goes on. It was an absolute kop out on their behalf.

I didn't get anywhere with them until I got the ombudsman involved. Even then we only got paid a very low amount. The case is in dispute and still ongoing.

However. They couldn't do enough to see the personal injury claim went through faultlessly.

As smithie said earlier. You have been warned.
