Guest Robbie Morran
Learner and co I am not worried at all , u missed the Q ,I dont show my dogs , the Q was fixed or not , I think the show was fixed , So i was asking if any one else thought shows were fixed thats all , i no shows are just a bit of fun , but i think they should be fair , some people travel some miles to show there dogs , a long way for fu** all if the show is fixed... Some people only show there dogs and put a lot of time and effort onto getting there dogs right for the day , so its not just a bit of fun to them , its a big part of there life ..... tell them not worrie If showing your dog is what u do good luck to u , if some of the dick heads i meet , most of them with bull x put as much time and effort into ther dogs as the show people do the lurcher world would be a better place Good showing and hunting to u all Quote Link to post
Dawn B 212
Well its the same with the Terriers too, and how can you tell a working terrier? Dont just say half its gob missing cos thats not a good worker, thats one that wont last long and will need replacing! (in my eyes anyway) I have a dog here that I NEVER show an ANY shows because he has a barrel rib cage due to a digestive problem as a youngster, he works Fox below ground with no problem, BUT to judge him you should say, NO, the SHAPE of that dog means its not ideal for the job it was bred for, yet he won! there were 6 others in that ring. Either the judging is as bent as it is in KC shows or the judges have no idea of what to look for in a Terrier bred to do a job! Just my opinion. Dawn. Quote Link to post

A 1st cross bull who like many others i know have alot of time spent on her physical wellbeing. She isnt a show dog, i do enter her for a bit of fun at the shows. But as Lazylurchers said, whenever i show her she never gets placed, the one and only time a bloke showed her she ended up with reserve best in show and qualified for the Midland My lurcher dog was once given a 2nd. The judge told a mate he would have gotten the 1st but he has a broken tooth (only a quarter of the canine missing i hasten to add).....now that really did piss me off even though i only show for fun, cos if its supposed to be a working dog show then why are dogs with working injuries frowned upon MOLL. MickC 1,825
I think its just down to the judge on the day everyone thinks their dogs are the best looking in the show or they wouldnt bother putting them in. I dont know if there are any standards that the judges work to, I think not , because each show I've been to has been judged differently, but then again its not feckin crufts is it, you pay yer pound and take yer chance. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree with you when you put your dog in a show its upto the judge on the day what dogs he wants to pick, he cant give every dog a rosette so he picks the ones he likes.
