Nik_B 3,790
They're just the kind of people that know full well they don't do anything useful so spend most of the day generating paperwork. I wouldn't mind if they actually got involved in the more dangerous operations to make sure they went safely but when ever the crane is out or things getting offloaded they're never to be seen because they're typing in all the useless safety crap in to their computer. We used to have to do these STOP cards, basically we were expected to have to make observations of unsafe acts (doing their jobs for them) and because it was a load of crap and we were forced to do anywhere from 5 upwards per week we used to just make them up. The tricky bit is to make them up without dropping someone in to the shyte because that would cause major problems lol "Observed man walking down-stairs not holding handrail....spoke to man and showed him the danger of what he was doing" On the odd occasion you did find something dangerous you could guarantee nothing would get done
Its_grim_up_norf 577
You can thank the alpha for that mate. grass cards eh? most lads on my MIST and BOSIET pretty much just said they'd do what you said there, report minor ones so nobody got sacked. We've watched so many things about the alpha through my apprenticeship and stuff i could write my memoirs as if i was on the rig myself.

Unfortunately it seems to be a loss of life or bad accident that brings out legislation. They knew there was a risk of it but its ok because it hasn't happened yet. Then tighten their belts once it has. Shame really, terrible loss of life.
