Joe67 239
this is doing the rounds on a few websites now, another petition this time to try stop our medical records being sold onto the highest bidder. even though they dont have our names, there is fears details could be cross referenced with other data bases. soon be no privacy at all Starting this year, private companies will be able to buy information on us from the NHS’s new universal patient database -- including everything from mental health conditions, sexually transmitted infections and diseases like cancer -- all linked to your postcode, gender and ethnicity. http://action.sumofus.org/a/nhs-patient-corporations/2/3/

sandymere 8,263
There’s a lot of scare mongering going on about this when in reality it will allow research to make some big steps forward by giving massive amounts of comparative date, this date is controlled and anonymous. Having “big data” is really good for research and will lead to major breakthroughs in medical research and so our future health ie, http://www.farrinstitute.org/ as the linkage between the data improves so does so does the viability of that data. And basically our data is already collected and used just not as well or as anomalously as this.
ChrisJones 7,975
We know it's already being harvested and used. Especially marketing companies. Doesn't necessarily make it right, or even ethical. It may be great for research but it's bad for privacy. Our medical procedures aren't for the mulling by a third party.

Car insurance, Life insurance, Medical insurance, fuckinhell it could even affect your home insurance.
