Mole man Kent 26
Went out last Sunday had 18 rabbits, gutting up and I had a few large looking kits in a few of the does. Anyone else had any? Quite early for me unfortunealty I'll have to finish up this season. Quote Link to post

Phil Lloyd 10,738
Well locally,.. everywhere is covered in a six inch high, carpet of stinging nettles,..the poisonous fekers sure pack a punch and the young pups are prancing around like show ponies.. On the plus side,..most of the warrens are still fairly clear,.the grass and undergrowth is at its lowest ebb and everything is open for business.. Most of the hedgerows on the higher ground are fairly well stocked and if me and my ferreting partners, take a nice quiet approach to the site,..throw a few purse nets down and more importantly,..lay some stoppies in the right places,.. ...the job is still a good 'un... Many of the does have youngsters inside them,.but rabbits will often breed throughout the year,.so what can you do... I love a carefree mouch with similarly minded lads,..and we either bag up or we don't,.and as long as the pup sees a rabbit or two, I really don't give a feck,...but, on a paying job,. business is business, and as a self employed Pester, I have to kill,..or the bills won't get paid. Just missed out on a large Sporting Estate, where they are paying two teams of lads a fairly reasonable amount per hour to ferret the entire acreage,.(feck it ) luckily,.. I still have a few regular customers to honour,...so we won't starve,..but if I do not show my face,...others will.. So,.for now,..it is onwards and upwards,.we will keep on keeping on,..until the ferrets start to get hormonal and steadfastly sack the rabbiting job,.. with a firm....'No way Hosay' Edited February 6, 2014 by Phil Lloyd 7 Quote Link to post

nighthunter. 13
the rains played a big part two this time, rabbits tend two move around a lot in really wet weather. its like us wud we sleep in a bottom bunk bed soakin wet .or wud we jump on top bunk, same as rabbits they will move on the higher ground ,we been lucky up north them poor buggers who ferret sourthern areas have had it bad, still crack on a alb. 2 Quote Link to post
Mole man Kent 26
This particular place I do is pretty local so I can snare it and trap it so I'm not to fussed. I'll also get out at night the the air rifle and lamp. I'm surprised I've hardly had any mxy rabbits this year and it's been so wet and mxy thrives in the wet. Ill have a couple more ferreting trips n see how it goes. Yeah I know they breed all year round lol. Quote Link to post
