Canada ---- What Will Happen?

Recommended Posts

Well, me and the wife will be off to Canada in May for a short holiday, if we like it we will go back to stay.

We went to Vancouver Island two years ago, visiting my wife's relations and I quite liked the easy going nature of the people there and the country was stunning. One thing I did notice was the roads, people were not full of road rage and were very courteous. No one was in a hurry or dashing around like headless chickens. Even the girls on tills in the supermarkets smiled and talked to you. One supermarket we went to had aisles with hunting equipment, guns etc. the next aisle had the clothing for hunting then the others were food and you could even put your car in for new tyres. While we were there I was seduced by a beautiful sexy object ! It was a Ford F350 Super duty pickup and I haven't been the same since ! :air_kiss: :air_kiss:

The food is my main worry, I shall end up as broad as I am tall. The Chinese takeaway we had for sweet and sour chicken balls gave us 20 balls per portion :icon_eek: don't get me started on the burgers

I also have a couple of relatives in Canada they are in Nova Scotia, Toronto and Ontario which are all on the East side so would be good to see them too.

This time around we will be going to Calgary which is in Alberta where my mate lives, not far from the Rockies. Possible good hunting to be had :boogie: This would be good for my wife as she will only be an hours flight from her family. My mate will put us up until we find somewhere to rent with a view to buy later. He has already made a couple of contacts for work for me and my wife will be sorted too.

I am fully aware that the winters there are pretty cold :shok: but they are well prepared for it whereas in the UK we get 2 inches and it comes to a stand still. It seems as though they get proper seasons compared to UK which is very unpredictable.

Since losing my Mum a year ago, to the horrible Motor Neurons disease, I feel that I need to try somewhere else. Something different. As my wife is Canadian it has opened the door for us to go on a new adventure.

Will keep you posted :bye:

My sis in law emigrated to Calgary about 4 yrs ago,and absolutely loves it....very safe, clean environment for the kids to grow up in,loads of activities for the kids skiing, horse riding etc etc ,and its tax deductible too :icon_eek: the only caution I would have is money....meat and fuel are peanuts ,but household stuff and general cost of living is a lot higher than they expected,if I were you I would go for it ....and don't look back  ATVB Dave

Thank you for words of encouragement :clapper:

Its good to hear from people who have relatives in the area where we are going. First hand information is good. We were aware of the high cost of living but in our line of work the hourly rate is much higher so we are hoping it will balance out. This is not why we are going, we are going for a complete change of life and what with strong family ties we are going to try the Canadian way of life.

The holiday will aid our research as we are 90% sure of going.

Will post photos for you guys

Thank you all for your support :)
