04fox8 168
Do your sums, and then do them again. Know 2 or 3 families that went there with work thinking they were on a good deal. All came back cos they hadn't allowed enough for TAX etc etc.... Also know a few who are still there tho, and they love it! Was down for a month once, and it is a great place. All the best....Go for it.
beast 1,884
i lived in western australia for a year, was based about an hour inland from perth and i loved it. i only came back because i couldnt sort out a visa to stay any longer. there are lots of brits in western australia especially perth and fremantle and i found them a really welcoming bunch. plenty of rabbits and foxes to go at and permission quite easy to come by apparently, just drive around asking farmers although this can mean driving big distances. i have friends in other parts of australia, both british and aussies i know from over here who have moved back, and none of them would come back to live in the uk. if you are willing to work hard and put the hours in you can do really well for yourself; i found that because the cost of living was relatively low lots of people would only have to work almost part time if they were tradesmen so it could actually be quite hard to get them at times; a couple of brits i met out there were willing to work long shifts and as a result they had booming businesses. this was admittedly a few years ago, but i dont think it has changed that much from what i hear go for it, you will never look back and as you say a great opportunity for your children. good luck
