Rake aboot 4,936
Looks like it`s a busy area,, at first glance I wouldn`t imagine a seat working in what looks like a well used road. Just goes to show,, they get used to where they are and can be brazen as hell sometimes. Specially Fallow I`ve heard Quote Link to post
sussex 5,777
Rake, the tracks are only used for a bit of farm traffic & the deer are used to the odd tractor going up & down .They don't usually move more than a few metres unless you stop .The hardest thing is getting a clear shot , you cant see in the pictures but their is a lot of scrub & small branches in the way , I need to get in & have a clear out . The doe was shot just to the left of the road junction at about 70 m Quote Link to post
sussex 5,777
Hi Owen , its shite up here as well , the fields are sodden & there is running water every where . Their is no chance to get out lamping you couldn't get anywhere with a vehicle , even the quad is churning up the ground . The deer don't seem to be using their normal fields ( given the water table is at grass level) & have stayed more in the woodland were there still seems to be plenty of food .I watched that group feeding last night & in forty minutes they only moved about 30 m , seemingly finding plenty to eat .Hence the need to move the seat . While its wet here , it looks a lot worse down your way with more to come ! keep your head above the waves , its got to get better soon . .... Quote Link to post

Philluk 181
Don't know about you Rich but I'm well down. I have a wet suit but I'm buggered if I'm going shooting in it, however next week is looking better. Quote Link to post
sussex 5,777
Yea well behind Phil , the farm manager rang me tonight he had just seen 50+ under the new highseat tonight , needless to say I wasn't in it .They had been working down in the woodland cutting fallen trees so this has pushed some out .I will get over in the morning but the dreaded weather forecast for the day is pants & as much as I need to cull sitting in the seat in the pouring rain is not for me any more !! .....fair weather shooter ?......to old to be anything else... Philluk 181
I don't mind getting wet, and with a shotgun it's ok but I don't want the rifle to get wet. I am hoping it stops soon but the poor West Country there can't be much wild life surviving that, rabbits will be extinct in that area for a while 1 Quote Link to post
