ive got one hard work to start with but once you get the hang of it, its not that hard. ive never caught nowt with it mind but to be honest ive only been practicing the cast. i might try it this summer if i go anywhere nice

i had great fun in oz swimming out with a long net then dragging it in ,getting lots of mullet & all sorts of fish ...untill someone warned me about the bull sharks that stopped me i tell you

Correct Cochin Kerala South India. don't know how long they will last, they are a big tourist attraction.

but I was told they are just not catching a good amount anymore and there are more efficient methods for the fishermen to use.

An interesting tradition but as you say not efficient any more,the margins of that estuary have been fished out. Kerala outstanding natural beauty but the litter is a fcuking disgrace.
