The Truth About Your Dog Food

Recommended Posts

I watched a programme the other night called,,

(The truth about your dog food)

i dont know how many of you watched it but it was very interesting

about what we feed our dogs, they found that some of the canned wet foods

are full of sugars,, and just made to smell nice so dogs just wharf it back.

there were also people in favor of feeding dry food, but a couple of what i thought

to be very savvy vets, that were deffinately in favor of feeding raw and bones.

Myself i feed both raw and dry, i was using for quite some time vitalin active

and raw, then one day i noticed that on a couple of bags of the vitalin active that the

biscuit was not crisp fresh, i allways just bite into a couple just to check for freshness.

Any ways took them back and changed them for a feed called country value, which my dogs seemed to enjoy, but as of late i noticed the dogs to be moulting quite alot and scratching,

and no my dogs didnt have fleas, but this programme explained that certain foods can do

this and cause allergy,s. i have now moved back to vitalin active plus raw, and in just a few days ive noticed no more scratching like it was, and not so much moulting.

Im not here to judge any body on what they feed their dogs, but it would be good to hear

some of your views on what suits your dogs, and to name what brand types of food you feed your dogs wet, dry, or raw, Regards SWG DAVE..........

I would never feed all in one.I cook meat and veg and raw aswell and add a sprinkle of Australian formula which i found good as a mixer only. I add cod liver oil the tea spoonful a day as too much will hold up the protien in the liver. Dogs like old fashioned stews with meat and veg and either brown bread or good mixer, they also get moisture then with the soup. If you cook meat in the same pot for a few days and take the fat off when cold you will get a nice jellyfied broth which dogs love cold or warmed with a bit of hot water.

I met a bloke once who worked in a dog food factory for 25yrs and he told me that the canned food was made of whatever waste they could get but the clever bit was making it all look the same.
