Just found the way he acts wasn't right for that part IMO.. Personally I think Caine is best when he is not the main character........some of his best performances have been as support IMHO like in Mona Lisa But he makes roles his own, Alfie......Educating Rita etc By his own admittance he will take on any role as its work and I suppose not all of them will be good. Agree with Scot about Tinker, Tailor.......all British actors and not one bad performance from any of them.
