Why? There is a lot of Welsh spoken in wales, the grandaughter has been educated totally in Welsh. It is not a dead lanuage, in fact it is gaining in popularity. To get any worthwhile job you have to be bilingual in Wales. Infact it even helps when learning another lanuage, the grandaughter has picked up french quite easily.

..and that's why our nationalists aren't as strong as the Scottish ones mate, the likes of me and you are scum as far as they're concerned.. You shouldn't feel any less Welsh or ashamed because you don't speak it, are Scottish people made to feel ashamed for not speaking Gaelic? I started taking lessons but I had to give them up when we moved.. :( I can exchange pleasantries, introduce myself and tell you it's pissing down with rain but that's about as far as it goes!:thumbs:

They teach my kids Welsh TC, my 11 year old daughter can converse at a reasonable level in it. They taught me f*****g French when I was in junior school..

I have an 18 month old grandaughter that was booked into a Welsh only school before she was born, the only way she could get a place. it is gaining every year they have to build new schools to cope with the demand.
