The Cornish Independence Thread

Recommended Posts

When I moved down here, over 20 years ago from the paradise that is Blackburn, I said to an old boy in the pub

"How long do you have to be down here before your accepted?"

his answer was "We'll give it 4 generations boy, then we'll have a look":laugh:

Cheers, D.

Ha ha you have to love google maps, here's the house we lived in

I often sit fishing on some lonely beach or cliff looking at the ocean wondering what possessed me .

The wages are low,the bills are high and the weather is shite but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else!

Yeh I think so, I'd have to read up on it but basically I think the sandstones were laid down in the Devonian period which is 420 odd million years ago, then in the carboniferous period 60-80 million years later two large continents collided and that's why you get all that crazy folding and faults. The geology of Britain is really complex and probably some of the best in the world and you could spend a life time learning about it. I've forgotten most of what I learned unfortunately.

We've got a bit of everything here mate, basalt, limestone, red sandstone and places where it's all jumbled up together! You go to that beach that's in some of those pictures and it's not unusual to see a group of geology students roaming about the place in raincoats with hammers and sample pots! I love all that stuff even though I know relatively little about it..
