New Permission - What About Application?

Recommended Posts

On wednesday I posted my SGC/FAC application, applying for shotgun, .17HMR and .223 for the fox problem.

I enclosed Ordnance Survey copies of my permission with a signed cover sheet in my application, with in total around 50 acres of very rural land, for rimfire and centrefire. I presume this land is cleared for centerfire use, as I've seen lampers and hear loud gunshots on the land around it.

Yesterday I was talking to a man at work, and by coincidence I acquired written permission for around 110 acres of land, but obviously it's too late to put it in my application, as I sent it off on wednesday. This land won't be cleared, as he's only ever had shotgun shooters on it.

This land is around a 2 minute drive from my house.

Could I just show the land to the FEO when he comes, or have I missed the train?

On a closed ticket, land must be assessed by the chief of police. You've missed the train for putting it on your application, but when your feo comes round to do your interview, you can mention it and he will advise your best action. My ticket states that if land is shot before I am granted permission by another person, then I don't have to check with the Police, but if it isn't or the land owner isn't sure what it has been shot with, I fire off an email and they tell me if it has been checked and if it hasn't they check it for me.

Thanks Bunny Boiler,

I understand that different police forces have different application forms, I should have read it first: The South Yorkshire one states that you should include "one" area of land that you have permission for, and the details of the owner.

It's not compulsary, but it will "aid" the application.

All I can do is mention it to him on the day.

I've applied for .223 and live in South Yorkshire, FEO was brilliant, we visited my permissions together and all was passed.

That's great news. Was he a fellow called John?

We're up as far north as you can get, on the borders with East Yorkshire. Our land is very remote, smack in the middle of farmland, nothing within at least 500 yards. Doncaster's about a 25 minute drive away, and that's the closest town. I asked my uncle who's in the police, and he said that we shouldn't have any problems with the application whatsoever.

I'm in Somerset. When i want land cleared it's the FAO that does it. Also, it wasn't until after i had sent off all my paper work for a .22lr that i considered getting a HMR. Rang the FAO and spoke to him and got both. Just give them a call, you never know.

Nothing to stop you calling or writing to your region in the mean time if you want, but a chat during the visit or previous phone call may well be fine!

That's good news, it's the same fellow by the looks of it.

All I can do is have a word with him when he comes round. It's only a 2 minute drive from my house and first piece of land, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I think the land I already have will suffice, as it is very remote with nothing around it except other farmland. The new permission is obviously much larger in size and lined by a river bank to the north and west, but is a bit less remote, with a house nearby.

I would of sent it in as well if you only sent the first lot on Wednesday and todays only Monday they wont have done much and the more land you can produce for your certificate wont hurt
