 Look, Really; If any of you people honestly feed your Dogs that dried shit? Then you're lost anyway.

I can't imagine what Any programme or essay could do to educate you. Ye'll just keep on trotting out ye own camps litany of excuses why it's " Harmless and nutritious and 'My Dogs thrive on it and kill any game put before them!' "

Yeah. What ever ..... You crack on .....

my last lurcher bitch was fed butchers complete, and a tin of butchers., worked well, lived to she was 15,and if i was selfish c**t i could prob have squeezed another 6month out of her.with the help of the vets overpriced pills. she never had an illness and apart from her first jags, was never near a vet until the day she was PTS.

when i kept the greys i never fed tinned or dry.always fresh veg and meat cooked. never bought into that raw feeding. and yes i know its the natural diet, but imo in this day and age its not needed.I like my dog food cooked, minimizes the worms and other nasties that could linger in raw.

you've only got to read the ingredients on most commercial dog foods to know its shite.

20% animal derivatives 4% of which beef etc

you can get good dry food if you actually have the ability to read and think.

Half the time all these feeds are to attract the owners, ain't gonna make much difference. If your dogs shite it's shite :D I can mind a greyhound guy, every c**t wanted him to train there dogs, he got results. Little did they know, there prized possessions were getting fed out the bins, true that is. What he did do though was walk them for miles upon miles.

Its a f***ing dog, Christ sake.

You could feed the c**ts fillet steak and dig them dead the next day/run into a fence on the lamp etc etc.

Far more important things to concern yourself with, get off your high horse Pete ... Wag all the way

these cat people buy sachets of food and they're well dear! if you put all the sachets together out of a box its probably about 1 tin and these mugs pay about a fiver for it!

My first lurcher, bought in the early 70's had to live with my great Aunt, 4 doors down, (out mongrel collie bitch wanted to kill her!). That dog was lucky if it seen a tin of Chappie, it lived off kitchen scraps and as my great Aunt was a big 'un, those kitchen scraps were few and far between! So it was forever foraging in the bins in the jiggers. You could tell which jigger it had been in as there wasn't a bin lid left on, the neighbors fecking hated it, both for that and its ability to run on the jigger walls and kill their cats! That dog probably did more hunting and catching that any dog i've seen since, if it wasn't with us it was doing it itself. She lived till she was 17 too!

Now, I ain't saying that thats the best way of feeding, far far from it but I think we can all get a bit to anal about it... As long as you are gonna do your best by your dog then grub should first be affordable, secondly easily available and thirdly easy to feed. After that, start thinking about how you can improve your dogs diet from a nutrition point and make changes accordingly.

Our Sandy, between me nan and me big great Aunt.. That's me on the left, next to me mam. (Formby Point 74 or 75)

Bosun, if I've one complaint about you mate, it's to say, you need to write more often. Quality post mate and picture. I think a lots to do with today's society and the way we think. Everything has to be the best, cost means everything. Look at walking boots, wellies, clothing..... The cheapest of any of those will be far greater designed and tested than the dearest was 20 years ago and we got by with the cheapest then. Same with food, I mean dog food ffs

Thanks Baw and here's a couple more little tales about 'our Sandy's' dietary habits.

Our mongrel cur Trixy wasn't the only one to hate that dog in our house, everyone else did bar us kids! See back when all dogs were just let out to roam, Sandy would wait for Trixy to go out and if our front door was open (weren't they all back then!!) would make a mad dash up the lobby, into the kitchen and wolf down any of Trixy's uneaten grub.

Feck me that dog could scoff quick!! She had to, there was usually shouts screams and stuff getting thrown in her general direction. With the ever possible chance of Trixy coming back and ripping her up too....!

Now, if no one noticed, she also had the nasty little habit, after eating Trixys food, of getting all excited about it, racing upstairs and bouncing and pissing on the beds, mostly my parents..! Oh brother, it was bad enough if she was caught but the rage that we would wake too, as my parents found a piss soaked bed late at night would be unbelievable! Me dad, threatening all manner of hideous deaths for Sandy, which usually upset us, as we simply loved her.!

Nothing ever happened to her of course, me dad, secretly liked her too, he was the one who brought her home after all. "Keep the bloody doors shut", seemed to be a constant instruction for us!

There was someone else that also hated that dog, me dads mate Arthur, who at that time was our milkman. The 'fecking shit machine' he called her, as he said that every time he seen her she was taking a shit and had never seen a dog like it!

Why he hated her was that she, after he put 'em down, would knock the milk bottles over, either forcing the foil lid to burst or breaking them. Either way, she got the milk and folk wouldn't. He said she would slope out of reach up the street, forever watching him and even jumped up on his float once and tried it...!

Now 'thats' a propper lurcher..!!!
