Mr Muddy 141
I’ve been doing mole work for a parish, usual couple of hectares; football, cricket pitch, dog walking area. Sometimes they get a few moles, more usually there are none. The leader of the council started asking for a fixed annual contract. I had to say, “Things like moles or wasps; they’re either here or they’re not. A monitoring contract won’t make any difference. Just call me if or when you next see hills”. Thing is, I’m now pretty sure I’ve lost the client to someone who HAS offered a contract. So my question is: Has anyone worked out a viable contract for mole catching on small/medium sized sites? I’m not asking for prices, just the nuts and bolts of a workable contract. And I appreciate you might not want to tell the world, so you’re welcome to PM me. Short of giving some sort of pest control ‘gift voucher’ or leaving some ‘monitoring’ traps to go rusty under the perimeter hedge, I don’t know what to do. Quote Link to post
StephenWalsh 73
It is a difficult one, but unless they suddenly have a massive explosion of moles you should make some money out if it. If you are a member of one of the Trade Associations they have sample contracts for this sort of thing, that they will send you on request. But you do have to be a member. Quote Link to post
iwm 71
you should offer a rodent and mole contract this gives you contact with the client every 6 weeks and if you use breakbacks in lockable bait stations you can check for moles on your routine rodent visit. iwm. Quote Link to post
nod 285
checking traps every 6 weeks? what if a mouse or rat was to go in the trap the day after your visit and got caught by the leg? you would be liable for animal cruelty. Quote Link to post
stubby 175
perhaps it was the checking for hills that they wanted to pass on, depending on location, I would have worked out what it cost to visit the location and walk the grounds doing a visual check, inc petrol there and back, then quoted that as a monthly or weekly fee, with the addition of xxx amount per mole there after, some people like to get a rough idea of costs for their books Quote Link to post

OK! check the traps daily if no rodent activity change to none toxic baits if you find a problem bait the area in lockable bait stations not forgetting paperwork for folder 35 day rule etc.sorry i thought the post was about trying to keep the client of an ongoing pest control contract with some knowledge of trapping etc. (first few posts lesson learned). DKGPestControl 22
We have a fair few mole contracts, they were tricky to price until we had a few and no what to expect! Lost a bit of money on a couple to start but seem to have it about right now, I would never turn down the chance of a contract of that sort. Quote Link to post
Matt 160
My mole contracts are free. The only conditions are that I can turn up when I like, go where I like, and get paid for each mole I catch. Sometimes keeping things simple is the way forward. Quote Link to post
