Fibre Wad Verse Plastic Wad Shells

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I have been asked by the Farmer to use Fibre wad shells when shooting over his land. I know the physical difference but have never used them; has any one noticed any differences with regards to shot pattern etc.

I'm using 6 -32 g.

Many Thanks!

Hull Cartridge used to make a shell with a biodegradable plastic wad but i'm not sure whether they still do.

Apparently plastic wads will produce a tighter pattern. Why not try out a few of the same shells loaded with plastic wads and fibre wads on a pattern plate and see for yourself?

I now use fibre exclusively on live quarry and have noticed no difference in the quality of the kill. As mentioned above the Eley 32g 6 1/2 HB Pigeon in fibre is a very good cartridge.

Thanks Nick, I just bought 200 clear pigeon in 6 - 32g as the shop was out of eleys. I was surprised there really isn't too much off a price difference and too be honest, air gun ant above is so right leaving plastic over your shoot is not good.

Hopefully if it stops raining the silver pigeon will see a field again!

im sure shooting times or someone did a test on those, and 5 yrs later they were still there, plenty long enough for a sheep or cow to pick one up in a mouth full of grass
