rabbitcatcher 1 287
What do you mean laying up? If she's pushing the rabbits to stop ends then staying til you dig down a lot of ferrets do this or is she geting hold of the rabbit and staying? Bit more info Atb rc1 Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Time of year plays a part. As the does start to belly up they get harder to bolt. Quote Link to post
Dan25 87
She is a good ferret I guess but she don't bolt em she just seems to fight with them she generally comes out with blood all over her she is definatly more confident now don't mind when it's easy digs but she want leave that rabbit ever there you go guess il need to get a digger for next season lol Quote Link to post
The one 8,477
Sounds like shes learned the knack of killing them quickly some jills pick it up quickly and thats it , i never have a problem with that as long as they stay with the rabbit locate her spade out dig her out rabbit in the bag and on to the next burrow Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
If you do enough ferreting, you will always have digs. This season I've had days of 30-40 with hardly a dig and a couple of weeks ago 18 rabbits with 9 dug. . . a lot of times it's just luck. 1 Quote Link to post

micky 3,325
I had the same ferreting mate for over forty years ,he liked the hobs I allways favoured the does. I never saw much difference between them until after xmas then the hobs came to the front. I liked the bit of film showing the hob bolting the 50 rabbits in two hours, the hob done well but the rabbits were there to be had and I think two or three jills would have done the job in half the time and then carrying on for a few more , I have had some big bags in the past but this was because the rabbits were there , we had plenty of ferrets to shift them and we were never slow in getting the spade in , each to their own but if you want a lot of rabbits you have to get stuck in and kill em and have ferrets , hobs or jill, what will do the same, its no good reading what someone else dos, you have to get out and do it yourself . 3 Quote Link to post
