Outlaw Pete 2,224
Anyone else aware of this? Someone else mentioned it was happening to them, recently. I thought no more of it. Till a long standing mate completely blanked me ..... I sent this guy a mail ~ we've always got on. Known him donkeys years now. Asked him about something. No reply! I gave it a day or three. Then, it was so getting to me, I rung him. Got his wife and said something to the effect that he hadn't answered my email. Two more days: F**k all! I couldn't work it out. So, I thought, f**k it. I shot him another, just saying he may not be interested in the proposal I'd made. But, I can't fathom why he should just totally ignore me. He came back, 'by return', as he usually did, saying he'd never got the earlier mail! That's when the bells started! So, I sent back, telling him some very interesting stuff ..... Nuffn! I'll bet that one too went off into the f**king ether! I'm on Yahoo. He's on AOL. WTF's going on here??? Like I say; Someone else mentioned this to me, recently. Could have been my boss. I send him vital and detailed shit on a regular basis. Now, I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't demand a receipt mail for each I send Anyone else experiencing this ....? walshie 2,804
Pete, was the email full of pictures and stuff? Sometimes if an email is really big, it gets bunged up at one end or the other, yet smaller ones get through ok.
baw 4,360
Amazing how paranoid folk get. I've sent letters, parcels, emails and text messages and sometimes, not often, they don't reach there intended recipient for one reason or another. It happens mate, nothing is infallible, not even Emails.
Outlaw Pete 2,224
Walshie; It was just a simple email. (Though potentially of some consequence. It was very important he get it) Anyway, seems we're back on track now as he's replied to the one I sent last night. I wouldn't say I'm 'paranoid'. More annoyed. As said; I regularly have to send sets of data to my boss. I've always tended to treat it as a given that my stuff's getting through. Now, as he seldom needs to respond to my mails, I'm faced with the very real possibility that he's not even getting half of it
baw 4,360
Lol Pete, I find certain times of the day make a difference with texts and whether they get through. I know it isn't emails but they are similar. I text a mate a lot, I'm with Vodaphone, he's O2. Around 12 till 2 you can pretty much guarantee he won't get them. I still get his but he doesn't get mine. Sometimes he'll get them all together later on, sometimes not a tall.
Joe67 239
go to your sent folder and double check you entered correct email, easy enough to hit wrong key now and them
Outlaw Pete 2,224
Baw, that must be f**king murder! I'd stop bothering. I can't stand trying to work with things that don't work. Joe; This is the weird thing, mate. His addy is on automatic with me. My mailer tells me it's just sent the missive. It's in my Sent folder. It just leaves here and ditches somewhere between us. Spooky thing is; If this wasn't an important matter with a very old friend? I'd likely have shrugged. Thought, " F**k ye then! " and dismissed the guy as a c***! Joe67 239
Then its probaly sent, if theres a problem with the email you sometimes get a reply from postmaster etc saying failed, if hes checked junk/spam then its probaly selective reading/replying
walshie 2,804
Does your email allow for a "read receipt"? Mine shows me what time the recipient has opened the email.
baw 4,360
Aye Pete, I think it's to do with text overload at lunch time with O2. Bit like them failing at new year.
Outlaw Pete 2,224
Does your email allow for a "read receipt"? Unfortunately not, mate. I understand ye get that with the microsoft default mailer? I use Yahoo. Had the same addy for over a decade so I'm not likely to change now. Thing is, Yahoo have " Listened to us and Improved their mailer ". And now, after a decade of perfect contentment, it's an absolute f**king nightmare! They've f**king destroyed it! Nothing works any more. But, what can I do? See above. I'm just having to weather it out till they decide to meddle again. Hopefully then they'll sort us back out
