Malt 379
See how easy it is to wind people up over such a trivial little game with 22 over paid twats kicking a round ball lol. And long may it continue
gnasher16 30,118
Think iv explained before Sunderland is 10-12 miles from where I live Sunderland is a town on the North East coast all around it are EX colliery villages Sunderlands Support comes from the City and Surrounding Collierys My Father supports SAFC as did his Dad All his siblings support SAFC My mothers parents were born in Houghton le Spring area around 2 miles from Sunderland All these areas were predominantly SAFC Till the Keegan era As for Hartlepool Till maybe 20 years ago The Collierys and Hartlepudlians fought like cat and dog Although only a few miles apart even their accents are different. More so in the past I blame Eastenders and Corrie for that. So no although I like to see Pools do well I'm Sunderland and best part of our family both sides are although iv a few coursins who follow the mags. Re the Boro there get best part of their support from Boro' Stockton'Billingham'Redcar ect with a Handfull from the Collierys off the back of the Robson era. I dont know whether its an area thing or a generation thing......when we was young if you was off the estates or schools local to West Ham and you didnt support West Ham youd get the shit kicked out of you ....same as Millwall or Spurs.......maybe its different in rural places where theres not clubs all on top of each you can take your pick who you follow.....a kid round here saying he supported Chelsea would get a hard time let alone Man Utd
gnasher16 30,118
They're just small, local clubs. Don't know if you city boys have the equivalent small local amateur football teams in certain ares of the cities and all? I completely understand that......when we was kids and you asked another lad who he supported he wouldnt say West Ham he would say The Avenue or Leyton some little local non league team......it was just taken for granted he was a West Ham fan that never even came into it..... we would go over the Avenue as kids until the ol bill started letting us bunk over the wall into the Boleyn at half time thats when you became a man
gnasher16 30,118
London and its boroughs are a lot more compact And more people per square mile ect Up here right outside Newcastle are rural areas who align themselfs to the mags Same with Sunderland and Boro They have no one else to support u less it's United lol Following the club closest to where you grow up shows an affinity to the area and regardless what you do or what you make of yourself in life that should never leave you in my opinion. Ive noticed over the years following England at different tournaments you get in chats with different lads from different areas as soon as you hear a northerner say he,s a Chelsea fan or a cockney say he,s a Utd fan they are just not taken seriously.......not by me i,ll talk to anyone about footie but it is a subconscious thing ive noticed with people over the years. keepdiggin 9,561
Also agree in Sheffield, people from north of the city support Wednesday and from south of the city support the other lot. There is the odd exception but to be honest it is quite rare from what I've seen.

New oppotunitys For the national side say a ruling of 4 players out side britain. Only to be used Thus giving home grown talent a chance

It couldn't have been drawn better for me with a winnable game and top teams playing each other, yes pal meeting United would be great be even better if we knocked them out in the semis again.

Would have been nice to see one of the big clubs at Hilsborough but this gives us a fair chance of progression. That would be a dream, beating Charlton, then facing Sheff Utd and a couple of games to the final! Oh what dreams are made of. Although he couldn't play in the cup we suffered a big blow with Conner Wickham being recalled from loan. He's done an amazing job for us and I wish him all the best in his career.
