foxhound45 167
Lads this is a bit of a shot in the dark. My terrier ran off with the other dogs up the back field on Sunday past as I was cleaning the pens and although all the dogs returned as normal the terrier didnt. There are no roads he could have accessed and all the deep setts are on the other side of the bog about 1/2 a mile away. The pup is a year old, has never been dug before and I have searched everywhere looking for him. I called into the neighbouring farms and the farmers are up in the fields every day with sheep and the have not seen one dog. I have checked every earth and even took a few dogs with me watching how they act round holes. I have checked every inch of drain on the bog and still no sign of the dog. Has anyone had a similar experience and how long have you had a terrier stay away? He knows the fields and would be home in a shot if he was free to roam, so I am thinking he has met his end down an earth somewhere. If I have checked every neighbour, every deep drain, earths and each corner of the bog has anyone had a place they have found a pup in a similar case that I am just not thinking of? He hasnt been shot as the neighbours would let me know and he hasnt been seen. The area he has free to walk without any road is huge so he is in the bog somewhere. It is a safe bog, I walk it all the time and for a terrier he skips through it with no problem at all. I am kind of clutching at straws here but the wait is friggin killing me, especially since he was a cracker Bull Russell and a real live wire. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! This is him.... Dosser 52
Feel for you mate, all I can say is the little b*****ds can cover some ground in no time, are there deer about there ? I.ve had it before where ive let a dog into some cover and 10-15 minutes later had a phone call saying they've seen the dog running through the village 2 miles away. Hope you get it back. Outside man 8
could ther be snares near by mate had that before luckly i new wer ther wer... and he was caught by a leg thank god Quote Link to post
foxhound45 167
No snares at all. He isn't taken by anyone because a stranger wouldn't get within 12 feet of him. Sometimes he runs circles round me. Was around every single field that is like a network where he was lost. Not one mention of him at all. I am trying to piece this together, I had my own dogs up who should run to the first spot there may have been a hunt at or if they were waiting on him above an earth as they have a habit of always running back to the last place they caught something. Absolutely no clue, not even the dogs are giving an indication of where something might have happened. It is like this terrier has vanished off the face of the earth. Quote Link to post
foxhound45 167
What is more annoying is I sit on a bog of about 40acres, there are no houses within a mile. He has a routine, always sticks to it. If he dropped down a sett has anyone any idea if he would be able to get out alive as I was thinking he may just take a world of hurt and back off.......unless he finds himself dug in or cornered. Bad news that pal, don't know how you kept calm if that was me I would of dragged him around the bog by his head and showed him what fair game is.He shouldn't be shooting if he can't tell the difference or if he thinks a terrier is fair game. 1 Quote Link to post
