the_stig 6,614
its all a money thing again think reason why hes turned it down He was offered a million pound to fight Froch again, double what he got last time so I'd say its not about money. Its not about money.....the fact Groves has been badgering the ibf for a rematch proves that.....im not sure exactly what it is with the ibf but i know when the wbc order rematches the challenger is normally only entitled to around 20% of the purse.......so for Groves to be getting 1 mill they would have to be cutting 5 mill between them......cant see it myself. if groves wants the rematch badly enough surly he take it all the shouting he`s done and he`ll make more than the last fight .. DannyMc 143
All info on sky sports news,Groves seems more than happy that he's got the fight, balls in Froch's court now.
the_stig 6,614
glad groves has stood his ground on this one personally i think froch knows what could happen in a rematch next time froch is up for a rematch ...
MickC 1,825
Groves is being smart, who would accept the first offer ? It's not only the monetary value of the offer it's also the conditions and stipulations connected to that offer. Do you really think Hearn is going to let the rematch happen and should Groves win and beat his Golden egg (Froch), then let Groves walk away and leave him with nothing. I'd like to see a rival promoter come in for Groves and then take this fight to purse bids. Hearn knows this and wants this rematch contract sorted before anyone can jump in.

antg 1,777
glad groves has stood his ground on this one personally i think froch knows what could happen in a rematch next time froch is up for a rematch ... ye he will be up for one. not in his nature to duck out. he is at the end of his career and all the hype will be good for both fighter towards a good payday. after all its a relatively short career and they must earn what they can and as much as they can. should be a good fight, as the last was.
MickC 1,825
If a rival promoter wins the purse bid then Hearn makes nothing, if this ends up the case Hearn will advise Froch to vacate the belt and fight somebody else. Now Groves has been ordered an immediate rematch he can sit it out and wait for an improved offer from Hearn or wait and see if another promoter steps in. Any promoter knows they can make big money from this rematch after the first fight ,and I think a few promoters will be interested in trying to get this fight. Ant. Adonis Stevenson was Frochs mandatory for over a year and Stevenson had to move up in weight to get a title shot because Hearn/Froch avoided him.

fagaen 282
groves knocked him down in the first round the fight was correctly stopped at the right time if the knockdown didn't happen no one would have questioned the ref decision. how many fights have been let go too far too early is better than too late
MickC 1,825
The IBF ordered the rematch as the Refereeing was inappropriate due to these flaws . Ref never deducted any points for constant fouls despite issuing warnings Ref stopped the fight from behind Groves back Ref did not look into Groves eyes at time of stoppage Ref was deemed to have stopped the fight too early by the IBF as Groves was fighting back throwing combinations, working his way off the ropes. Let's not forget the Ref had " liked "a comment on a Facebook saying the fight would be stopped in the ninth round .
