ricky hatton

PBF is class i'm not questioning his credentials, but i think Ricky will give him plenty to think about. All the so called "unbeatables" down the years have been exposed,Tyson didn't intimidate Douglas, and got a boxing lesson,Roy Jones, finally fought some one on the up,and was hammered,he's never been the same since.PBF was getting comprehensively out boxed and out muscled, untill De La Hoya ran out of gas.Anyone who knows the fight game knows that PBF was beaten hands down by Castillo in there first fight.Roll on dec 8th,lets see how PBF reacts to having Hatton in his face for twelve rounds. If Hatton lets PBF dictate the pace,he'll get beat, but if Ricky roughs him up,and gives him no room,we could see PBF run out of ideas. The choice of referee, might influence the result i reckon(how much he lets Ricky rough PBF up)

COME ON RICKY !!

Mayweather will get a shock when he feel's "The Hitman's" power, it was Castillo's power that had him all but beat, as already suggested Hatton need's to keep his foot on the gas and not show Mayweather any daylight or too much respect. Will be a good fight but i would love to Maywather on his arse early on, then a Ricky Hatton v Oscar Del A Hoya clash next summer. :boxing:

The problem with alot of these boxers is they never know when to hang the gloves up!! Tyson was one of them who obviousley lost the plot but in his hey day when he won the world title at 21 the guy was a real class fighting machine, I don't beleive for one minute that if Lennox lewis had thought him when Tyson was at his peak he would have won!! I reckon Tyson would have had him out of there pretty sharpish.

Mayweather is no different! he's giving it plenty of gob but was lucky to get the decision over a old del a hoya. Hatton will be too much for him with the way he just relentlesly keeps coming forward, wayweather will run out of ideas how to cope with this dynamo and get nailed later in the fight and I'll be pissing myself while he lays looking at the stars :boxing:....

Cheers

jasper every post of yours is normally a lot of sense...but this  .....tyson was a rough cur no more no less....as soon as he fought people that he couldnt intimidate he lost and virtually quit on all of them.....he knocked over nobodies when the division was at its all time lowest quality wise.....lewis would have made him look even more foolish than douglas did !

As for hatton,as much as id love to see it i dont give him much chance, size will be against him, style will be against him and you can bet the referee will be against him....mayweather is simply too clever to be dragged into a banging match and will keep him at distance for the first half of the fight and probably pick him off to a stoppage late on....hope im wrong.

Interesting stuff that Gnasher . you don't win world titles at the age of 21 which is still a record just by knocking out nobodys! there comes a point when you have to earn the respect for a shot at the world title, Trevor Berbik who he took the title off was there for the taking by this time just like Tyson was when Lewis fought him, but Tyson knocked over alot of very Respectable fighters from Spinks, Larry Holmes, Pinklin Thomas <Frank Bruno not included>, and then yep lost the plot big time under his new managment team working under Don King, when under Cus Demato the boy was a gem knocking over large men at the age of 13, I'm sure there is plenty of stuff floating around when he was a amature kaneing the other best of the rest amatures.

when he lost it I lost interest in him also but when he was in his prime he was awesome. its fair to say most of our British heavyweights spend far to long knocking over nobodies Lewis Included! I remember one such fight when Lewis was dropped completley out cold by a nobody called Oliver Mcall and Lewis's last fight against a guy called Vitali Klitschko was a shambles...

I'm sticking with Hatton to take the gobshite out in the later rounds .....

Im not saying Tyson wasnt a good fighter, but a great in terms of history he certainly wasnt.....you mentioned a few of tysons wins...spinks( a blown up light heavyweight)...pinklon thomas( a reformed junkie)...yet you purposely left out frank bruno...whys that ? bruno was on the same level as every other tyson opponent of the time,in fact bruno was the first fighter to actually hurt tyson....i totally agree bruno was nowhere near world class,BUT...at that time in the heavyweight division he WAS....the division was at its all time worst...trevor berbick( wbc)... bonecrusher smith ( wba) and michael spinks ( ibf)...were all world champs when tysons reign began !! doesnt exactly set the world alight does it....top( yes top ) contenders were tony tubbs...tyrell biggs...a totally washed up larry holmes...carl williams.....just about says it all doesnt it !...and tyson was beaten by another one of these TOP contenders buster douglas....

Personally i was never brainwashed with all the tyson crusade...ANY era other than the one he was in 86 - 89 he would not have got the reputation he did....a peak holmes a few years before would have beat him and a peak holyfield a few years after ....well lets not even talk about that.

Make any excuses for the kid you like he simply was not a true fighting man who was a fighter in his heart....he was a bully who couldnt take what he gave out and them sort will always be exposed in the end.......its been interesting

A fighter can only fight (and beat in Tysons case) the opponents who are in circulation at the time.

It is my firm belief that if Tyson had lived a cleaner lifestyle and had better people behind him, he would have been unbeatable.

As for the "great" Canadian hope Lennox Lewis, sure he was a class act but had flaws aplenty. - He was a lazy big fecker and was more than susceptable to a big over the top right hand as the very ordinary Oliver McCall (so shit that even Bruno ended up doing for him) and later that other household name - Hasim Rahman :haha: were to prove.

Tyson V Lewis was a joke and should never have been allowed, Tyson was more than washed up by then (why else did Lewis finally thake the fight at this point??)

Tyson V Lewis 6 or seven years previously would have seen Tyson knocking the Canadians head off before round 5.

ps - The mighty Lennox actually lost to one of Tysons "washed up opponents as an amature - you tell me which one gnasher????? :black eye: :boxing:
