Right he didnt steal from me but i was giving a tip off he was after mine asking if they in kennels or house ,not only that we where at a show the other year I met him not knowing who he was after sh

The problem is that people are peddling dogs for a quick buck without any concern for the dog whatsoever and these types will pass on stolen dogs, knowing full well that they are stolen if there's a p

If my dogs were nicked and someone knew where they were or even knew the person who did it and kept schtum they're as bad if not worse than the thief...

This thread is pretty illuminating.

Saint? No, just think I've got a few morals.

Nice to know that some of our members would happily peddle a few dogs for cash.

No we wouldn't just like I wouldn't sell my body for money but I don't have a problem with folk who do.

Taking free dogs off gumtree etc.... most of which are from families who cant look after them...for whatever reason

... and are given away in the hope that the recipient will look after and care for the dog....

Then selling it on...

Doesnt sit right with me.

A dogs more likely to be better looked after if money changes hand so I'd say, it's more chance of finding a good home.
And i would say that too....

But when people give something away...

They do it... in the hope that the person recieving it...

Isnt going to profit from it...

Its preying on folks decency IMO.

Why would they give anything away wanting someone not to profit from it? I'd have thought their concern would be hoping the dog lived out its life in a good home, not fretting wondering if some c**ts made a few quid from it. If you gave a mate it then yes, you have a point but not a stranger.

I personally wouldn't sell anything for profit someone has given me in good faith, I've had it happen to me (not a dog) & it leaves a bad taste in the mouth........ Buying & selling is a little different, it's hard to judge

Fair play baw.....

See for me, the thing is dog peddlers are one step from dog thieves as after all, that's where a lot of them end up....

And it just doesn't sit right lying to folk and trying to con them into getting a dog off them and then using it to make cash.....

My original point was more a long the lines that i always struggle to comprehend why folk come on here saying they know a dog theif and he lives down the road..... and yet when folks dogs are stolen they are on here saying how bad it is.

I see your points mate and agree with them to an extent. There is a world of difference conning a mate out of a dog than picking one up someone's giving away on gumtree, which is what I originally replied to. Obviously if you breed a litter of pups and a mate asks for one, then sells it, that's a world of difference than a stranger doing the same. But even then it's down to respect and loyalty between mates. You wouldn't expect them to do it, anyone who expects a stranger to be loyal, have lived a sheltered life.
