jude7719 2
Hi all Im considering getting a lurcher to work my local area (Pateley Bridge in the Dales). The land is quite hilly and since its only fit for stock its rough and uneven. The dog will be used for lamping and general mooching and I was thinking of a Beddy x whippet but thought the bumps might slow him down too much. Would a first cross Beddy/Greyhound be a better choice? Quote Link to post
running addiction 207
Don't think so much that the land will slow the dog down, if the ground very uneven or hilly the dog could lose sight of the quarry with them only being smaller types..I'd go for some thing bigger doing there job Quote Link to post
nothernlite 18,089
sounds very similar to the ground i run my dogs and i use 2 beddy whippet grey at 21tts and a we beddy whippet at 19tts and they do fine on the land seen bigger dogs run on the land and the we dogs just as good if not better Quote Link to post
Qbgrey 4,119
go for lighter dog if its stoney/flinty and uneven a heavy dog will cut itself,3/4 whippet 1/4 beddy.or a saluki grey 1 Quote Link to post
