TOMO 26,120
What military base? who have you applied to a quartermaster or Commanding Officer etc ? Im ex army and they wouldnt allow civilians to ferret or shoot on military land, they use internal applicants? No digging seems extreme, presuming you would book into the guardroom? not like your planting IEDs You wrong about that fella,,, theres a plenty of private pest control company's that have contracts on mod land,,,,, and as some of the lads above have said,,, some civilians have sporting rights too Quote Link to post

The no digging rule is stupid.....look at all the damage and digging, the fecking rabbits have already done ! Edited January 23, 2014 by Phil Lloyd 3 Quote Link to post
Guest vin
The fella said No digging and no dogs..? can it be done. ? course it can..in many ways . each to there own. no spade and no dogs..does make for a boring day out... But I'm also a very happy chappy when we have a big bag of bunnies at the end of a day and I hav'nt had to dig any of them out...It don't happen very often..but it does happen. Quote Link to post
archiekale 427
IN TODAYS INVIROMENT ( NUTTERS) YOU KNOW WHO I MEAN ) I WOULD NOT THINK THE MILITARY WOULD ALLOW ANY CIVYS ON MOD LAND WITH ANY GUNS EVEN IF LICENCED FOR SECURITY REASONS 1 Quote Link to post

Danny85 3
Woah! This really took off. As I said I'm not a ferriter and was purely out of interest and if it could be done I could invite somebody to show me the ropes. It's an airfield so can understand the no digging but there are plenty of copses about where they wouldn't even notice. I only know of 2 others that shoot here (for sport) and the place is crawling. I'm happy just shooting them for now. Thanks for all the comments though. Quote Link to post
Hot Meat 3,109
i used to do leeming bar, had some cracking days there on air base, gave it up in end as had too much to do Quote Link to post

I'm talking 10 -20 bunnies on land where there's plenty... your numbers and far larger than any normal ferreting chap. anything over 20 is work in my book. . . and as tomo will tell you... I've got a glass back..lol Quote Link to post
Nick3439 83
Maybe I'm unusual but I only take enough for the freezer/fridge 2-6 rabbits a time once or twice a week is quite enough to keep me going; chuck a few shot pigeons in there and my food bill with the veg garden and chickens is pretty much nil... Does anyone else "subsistence hunt"? Quote Link to post

Really? Quote Link to post
OldhamLad 66
I'm talking specifically about army bases here gentleman not general MOD land from my personnel experience whilst serving I had a hard time gaining permission and I was in the bloody thing! Having spoken about whom looks after the vermin, it was either private estate management firms or a couple of snooty sgts with air rifles. Things may have changed and may have varied from place to place, feel free to let me know how those of you with permission have gone about it and ill have a pop at a few army bases I know that are in desperate need of rabbit control Regards, OldhamLad Quote Link to post
OldhamLad 66
Nick3439 how about you start a new thread for that comment pal, Interesting comment and I subsistence hunt, I believe its more morally acceptable But Bigger wider issues such as farmer demands can dictate number of bunnies taken. nighthunter. 13
yeah I have been out on odd days vin myself and they have come out like express trains no digs but I noticed sommet about ferreting they don't like bolting on them north easterly winds but yes your [BANNED TEXT] mate you can have days when they fly out no digging not every time of coarse.
