Or8 lads I'm due to sendy rifle off for a service Friday and I'm just abit worrierd haha has anyone else sent a air rifle with parcel force?

Sent one two weeks ago via parcel force 48 all went ok. i printed of royal mail terms and took to post office only issue is the extra insurance doesnt cover air rifles so max compensation is only £100 not great but mine arrived ok. i bubble wrapped rifle and then boxed and buble wrap again LOL better to be safe then sorry. i think parcel force 48 is only option for sending via parcel force and must be arranged through post office not online etc, worth a read of the royal mail site

chances are they will only want the action,get your self over to staples,buy a cardboard tube costs about £3.50.bubble wrap the action and send via parcel force,should cost about £16.00 insured to the sum of £2.50

 

make sure you measure your action first mine was 710mm so it was under,they may charge you if it exceeds their measure?

 

done this today,signed for on delivery and tracked it was custom parts in the tube not air gun action

Cheers lads is parcel force 24 not a option then? The sooner it gets to him the better haha I saw a programme of some depo kicking parcels about few years ago haha

Take mine up to the post office cost me £25 RMSD insured for £500 , peace of mind

It has to be parcel force 48 hour.

If it goes by air it gets scanned and quite a few have been sent to northern Ireland

For testing and destroyed ..

There are plenty of threads on other forums about it.

Awexpress couriers carry air guns legally as well.

Rmsd if under the size limit according to the website its now 610mm

It wont be destroyed,if it is a sporting air rifle under 12ftlb David.Still it is a worry until they get thair Firearms Expert to look at it and okay it.

They had my R10 and Marksman silencer for nearly 5 weeks.All was returned in tact,un molested.

I wouldn't send a turd through parcel force. They lost a rifle I'd sold last year to a pal of mine. Insurance covered but the rifle had lots of work done to it with cost around £300 plus the cost of the rifle.

 

Their customer services were shocking. I rang around trying to find it. And at one point was put on hold, they thought I was any way. I could here them mocking me. Rage is not the word.

That is the service the price is £15.92, up to 10kg which would probably cover all air rifles & packaging, thats £100 compensation but you can buy extra up to £2500.

I will also point out that even though PF48 now accept airguns, the likes of parcel2go, my hermes, parcel monkey etc still prohibit all guns, even if the actuall carrier allows them, this might be an issue if you need to claim compensation, you have been warned.

If you had sent this by anyone else, you would not have had a penny back in compensation.

£100 is the maximum value that can be insured.

Did you read the T&C's?.

Read this no compo above £100 even if you claim as sporting goods etc once its classed as air rifle your fooked. taken from parcel force website

 

Low-powered air weapons (air rifles, air guns and air pistols), together with lead pellets and other airgun and airsoft projectiles, can be sent but are subject to the following conditions:
1. These items must be sent on an express48 service only
2. These items must be sent via the Post Office^® only (not via any other channel e.g.www.parcelforce.com, call-centre, reseller or Parcelforce Worldwide depot).
3. Enhanced compensation cover is not available (low-powered air rifles, air guns or air pistols and lead pellets and other airgun and airsoft projectiles will only be covered up to the maximum amount of inclusive cover for express48).
Note: Low powered air weapons are defined as air rifles, air guns or air pistols capable of discharging a missile so that the missile has, on being discharged from the muzzle of the weapon, kinetic energy not in excess, in the case of an air pistol, of 6ft lb. or, in the case of an air weapon other than air pistol, of 12 ft. lb. Any air rifle, air gun or air pistol which uses or is designed or adapted for use with, a self-contained gas cartridge system is a prohibited weapon and cannot be sent.

AW Express are able to deliver with insurance but what if they also use other courier companies as part of the delivery chain, is the air rifle still insured?.

I'll see if I can find out.
