terryd 8,425
Did it once on a snowy frosty night with a full moon years ago but it was too bloody cold. Visibility was good though Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,193
Yes I used to do loads,,,, did the places you couldn't do in daylight,,, it's also a good way to use a night when the moons full and your not out with the dog. We also used to do a place that was near a power station,,, and the light pollution from the site ,, was enough to see by,, so you didn't need a full moon there.. Park land on keepers estates ,, that no way could you ever do was fair game.. 2 Quote Link to post
Longers7 720
One of my perms has loads of dog walkers on in day, get loads of dodgy looks from them! So thought May be easier at night. Was thinking fishing nite lights on collars etc..... Quote Link to post

Longers7 720
Did you find that you had as many rabbits at night as in the day? Would prob have to "walk" the rabbits at night, but at least you would know which warrens would have rabbits in. Quote Link to post

One of my mates used to do security on a industrial park and he used to let me on to ferret in the nights, had some cracking nights there under the lights. 3 Quote Link to post
Belfasthunter 12
Do yous use a headlight? Ive never bothered doing it at night I thought it would be too much hassle trying to see in the dark untangling nets etc don't see how you would get more numbers if you had a dog that marked sets being used Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,193
No need for a lamp,,, that defeats the object of being stealthy and going unnoticed,,, no do it when there's a full moon,,,, and if your warrens are on open park land,,, you will be able to see well enough with the light from the moon.. And you don't understand why a marking dog would be better?,,,, it's always useful having a good dog around Quote Link to post
Belfasthunter 12
Ok don't think I'd be up for it at night but mostly in bushes etc.. And what I mean is I don't see how you would get more numbers at night.. If you had a dog that marked sets being used at daytime Quote Link to post
Belfasthunter 12
Rather than not bringing a dog at nighttime and have to walk rabbits in to sets Quote Link to post

If you had a dog that marked sets being used at daytime Its not about getting numbers its about doing spots that you can't do in daylight. 5 Quote Link to post

Longers7 720
If a dog chases the rabbits in rather than just walking them in then the rabbits may be hesitant to bolt. Quote Link to post
