Belfasthunter 12
Get yourself a real young pup and rear it up yourself then it'll be the dog you want it to be wont be no1 else's problem best way to do it is yourself Quote Link to post
border lad 1,047
Wait your time, buy a pup, from working stock, If its mainly for rabbits, the best in my opinion, is a good collie x if you are hunting Ireland, smallish fields, rushes, Banks, you could not beat a good 3/4 grey 1/4 collie, (( beardie))) if you can find them, Leave that mongrel bull, wheaton, deerhound, and what ever else is suppossed to be in the mix, LET THE MAN KEEP HIS PROBLEM, rear your own pup, train it to the way you want to work with it, (((( ask yourself why does the man want to sell it now, ((((( there is a problem in him,,,, and he is looking for a soft touch to off load, (((( but I suppose your hands are burning to go and buy some one elses rubbish, (((( we have all been there, NO QUICK FIXES, NO INSTANT COFFEE, start from the base, buy a pup,,,, you will have much greater satisfaction, than buying some ones else problem, 1 Quote Link to post

baw 4,360
bring him in a field full of sheep see what way he goes. Spot on. My advice would be, don't touch it with a barge pole. Johnny hit it on the head, get a pup and bond with it. And if you've never had a dog before, ffs get a book and at least learn how to lead train it 1 Quote Link to post

Sweeney 316
That's the problem in Ireland there is few litters to choose from they aren't bred that often To be fair mate if you only want it for bunnys any collie cross will catch rabbits, to be fair if I was after just a bunny dog I would even maybe just look at getting a whippet. Ain't many rabbits that would get away from a whippet that's for sure. Iworkwhippets take a look at his posts, absolute cracker of a dog on the bunnys Quote Link to post
