mexlad 189
Amazing how much respect that had for each other and how they became good friends, I don't think he killed himself either, the wife's definitely to blame for that if you ask me.
gnasher16 30,118
Must admit ive not watched that documentary but i think the first fight they had was everything thats great about boxing, the fact it wasnt for a title or big money made it even greater it was just a man against a man that with no malice or nastiness neither would back down.......Fights like that you leave a piece of yourself with each other as you get to see a man from the inside.....i cant remember what round it was but the round that Gatti went down from the body shot is still one of the bravest 3 minutes ive ever seen in a boxing ring !.....head shots you either absorb them or you dont, but anyone whos ever taken a body shot like that knows that horrible feeling where every instinct in your mind is telling you to stay down and quit.....where your desperately trying to concentrate on your breathing when it feels like you can breathe out but not in....then getting up not only to withstand more but to continue trying to win.......sometimes a fight brings out the best of a mans character and Gatti was certainly a man id like to of known in everyday life.

Gratz 8
Thanks for sharing. Watched the fights at the time, but all the background in the documentary is brilliant
Its_grim_up_norf 577
arturo gatti, edwin valero, and juan manuel marquez are 3 of my favourite boxers of all time. strangely all very similar, come forward aggressive fighters, and two of them having very chaotic private lives, and unfortunately ending in their death. gnasher16 30,118
Cheers Yokel The most remarkable thing about it was the way throughout the round it simply never occured to Gatti that he could lose.....he wasnt just hanging in there he was firing back trying to win....which for me is the essence of true gameness.
