Mr Muddy 141
Hi Mate, If your mate’s looking for a new career then good luck to him; do what SW says. If he (or anyone else) wants a stop-gap while he’s out of work; then thinking ‘Oh well, I can always do a bit of pest control’ is really not a good idea. It costs a lot of time and fair bit of money getting properly set up, and an awful lot of hard graft before you start earning it back in any quantity. Quote Link to post

norseman 424
I know the grass isn't always greener, although he's been out of work for near five years now, and is desperate for work. he's been doing landscaping/gardening on and off but its not consistant as its seasonal. he's already put loads of money toward that, so it wont hurt to put it to something that will stand for him I guess. thanks lads i'll let him know his options and he can do as he wishes. blatta 2
norseman, there is a Regional Training Forum of the BPCA in Northern Ireland on 4th April. He could always contact the BPCA and see whether he can turn up to that. www.BPCA.org.uk look under EVENTS tab. There is lots of information on this website for those starting out. Quote Link to post
Mole man Kent 26
I've just paid for my level 2 award in pest management and that is the basic qual you need to have a job for a firm in pest control and that doesn't teach you how to kill or catch vermin that its literally legislation and law. That alone cost me a grand, my insurance for the year is 800 and that's real basic! It's a pricey trade to get into Quote Link to post
DavisSmith 0
Little knowledge in something like of pest controlling will help you a lot and doing a regular and right course will help you to keep going, go and talk to NPTA Quote Link to post
