went to the club today and chronoed the rifle averageing 10ft lbs , is it expensive to get it uned up abit? if I did would I loose shot count ? ive only been filling up at 150 bar could this effect power when it went on the chrono.. its killing vermin at the power its at now but somebody said it will help tragejectory at a higher power etc.. atb rich

are you refilling it back up at 150 or filling it to 150 .ultras are usually filled to 190 bar .all pcps have a sweet spot. if you are only filling to 150 then after a few shots you could well be shooting at too low a power . try the power setting after refilling to 190 bar then again after 20 shots and compare readings .then shoot another 15 and try again. i think that the shot capacity is around 35 on a 177, and about 40 on a .22 unless they are regulated.. after 35 shots you would be on the lowest power range which is recommended before you need to re-fill. but if you only fill to 150 to start then after 35 you would almost certainly be running too low on around 100 bar. these are designed for sub 12ft lb. if they run over 12 you would need fac and the shot count would be rubbish. let us know how you get on .

when I refill I only fill to 150 that's what the guy at the shop told me to fill too, that's what I filled it too then had it chronoed..what your saying sounds a good idea dogvixen..I get about 20 on target shots the drops.. ill fill too 190 next time then

Yes you can fill to 232 but the sweet spot is 190,any thing above will be low on power .

The best thing you can do to a ultra is get it regged , had mine done now get 55-60 shots with in 4 fps and running at 11.7 ft,lb

Ultras are filled to 232 bar.

Not if you are sensible.

 

232 bar is the maximum working pressure the gun is designed to work at. At 232 bar there is too much pressure in the air cylinder and it forces the valve shut quickly after firing, meaning not enough air gets out to make a full powered shot.

 

Ultras work best at about 190 bar down to about 120-130...

 

I think the OP might be better looking for a pellet that works better in his gun!

I've just sold my Ultra for a Ultra SE after reading posts on Facebook by Si Pittaway and watching him shoot his on YouTube. Best thing I have done. I loved my MMC and didn't think it could be improved but how wrong I was. I now fill to 220 bar as recommended by Si and get 42 consistent shots before it starts to drop off. With A A Field pellets this rifle groups tighter than ever before and shoots nicer and easier than my friends pcps. So much so that they are going to sell theirs to buy a SE. My advice is try a SE and join the VHTV group on Facebook. What a great group with nice members always willing to help.
