Bunny Boiler 177
Yes. Take it off the rifle and then remove the end cap. The sak mods are made of 3 components. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v76/rapidboy1/guns/DSC00016-1.jpg The end cap, sleeve and baffles. Use a tooth brush to get the crap from between the baffles. I would open it up over a towel as a load of powder and crap will fall out if you've put loads of rounds through it. They recommend cleaning it every 1000 rounds, but I probably do mine every 400-500 rounds. Edited January 19, 2014 by Bunny Boiler Quote Link to post
The one 8,470
Same here somebody told me to soak mine in petrol but that didn't get the crap off the baffles Quote Link to post

I've found a quick squirt of VP90 and a hard bristle brush gets the most stubborn of shit off. Quote Link to post
paulus 26
use a 20g cleaning brush and some 009 Quote Link to post

Brickhill 28
Take is apart and soak it is coca cola overnight. All the crud comes away a treat. Quote Link to post

You never know how its going to affect the mod itself as well. Stick to proven methods is my advise. Quote Link to post

It is a well known and effective method of cleaning diamond rings etc., etc, never tried it on a moderator! Quote Link to post

She can do what the f**k she likes with her diamond ring! Lol. Using VP90 is a proven method for cleaning my mod, so I offer that as advise to people with the same mod. Diamonds are pretty tough. If you're pouring acidic liquid onto your mod, you have no idea what its doing to it over time. If you lightly coat the baffles and sleeve too with VP90, it tends to stop it sticking so bad next time too. Atb, BB Edited January 20, 2014 by Bunny Boiler Quote Link to post

The one 8,470
I must admit I don't do mine that often and when I do the baffles are full of crap and stuck together last time it was a wire brush and wd-40 Quote Link to post
3175darren 1,100
I use a tin of carb cleaner, and wire wool, 300/400 rounds on the 22 rf I must say the SAK moderators are alot better than the old parker hale moderators for cleaning, Quote Link to post
Bunny Boiler 177
I find a tooth brush works well enough... No need for wire wool, but then I would describe the deposits as gritty in my mod. Some people may have a more "limescale" type deposit which I suppose is harder to get off. To the OP, how did you get on cleaning it? Quote Link to post
