keepdiggin 9,561
I read a comment yesterday on here about somebody not liking the temperament of a collie\grey (cant remember who I've looked for the post but cant find it). I've only seen one work and it would take bunnies with ease and attitude of the dog was spot on. Quote Link to post

socks 32,253
Everybody know the little quirks that collies have ... If you don't like or can't handle these little idiosyncrasies then don't get a collie blooded dog ... Simples ......... 14 Quote Link to post

beast 1,884
some border collies can be high strung, nervy, or hyperactive. and this can sometimes breed down into the crosses. its not as common as people would have you believe. and even if you get one with a slightly odd personality, a decent dog man (or woman) should be able to handle train and manage the dog well enough that there isnt a problem. the problem is normally with the handler to be honest, either not being a good enough stockman or just their personality. for example a domineering, loud person is going to struggle with a shy retiring pup. incidentally, i havent seen any beardie crosses which showed these problems (although they can have issues of their own sometimes!!), and a lot of people like hancocks border/beardie grey crosses for this reason. my current dogs have varying amounts of beardie. i have to say i have never had a border cross with any temperamnet issues, although i had a pure collie bitch which was a fecker. but we got her right 3 Quote Link to post

tote 854
I read a comment yesterday on here about somebody not liking the temperament of a collie\grey (cant remember who I've looked for the post but cant find it). I've only seen one work and it would take bunnies with ease and attitude of the dog was spot on. I read the post aswell, I think it was written by Bird but has been removed. It was on the thread below and post 17 makes reference to it. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/311855-collie-greyhound-dog/page-2 I've had collie crosses in the past and would have them again, had a 5/8th grey x 3/8 collie that did the lot, also had a 1/2 cross that was superb at lamping and ferreting but at about 16 month started to open up on occasions. Had others aswell with a touch of whippet or deerhound in the mix but stil a 1/4 collie which I kind of prefer, don't like too much collie in there and think 3/8th's or 3/4rs is plenty. A mate had a reverse 3/4 which yapped like fack and chose when it ran and when not, even if the rabbit was sat in the middle of a field, too much collie in it for my liking. 1 Quote Link to post

pigeonphill 69
people that don't like at least a small amount of collie in the make up are probably scared the dog is more intelligent then themselves 1 Quote Link to post
