mexlad 189
Ali is the best heavyweight ever for me, I think he would have boxed Tyson's head off, I love Tyson but if he was around at the time when it was a strong division like in the 70s with the likes of Ali, foreman, Frazier, shavers, norton, Holmes in his prime and a few more, he's just an average fighter for me in that decade.
AKA-BRINDLE 879
Not an expert here, so who was the better boxer? Holyfield? Did tyson resort to biting cos he was losing? Holyfield was butting and using his head in both thier fights...and the ref was letting him get away with it...Tyson is/was a mentaly flawed man...but in my opinion he was unstoppable between 18-21 years of age...until Cus died...and the rest as they say is history...Larry Holmes is entiled to his opinion...but it is the opinion of someone who was beaten by Tyson

General lee 979
Tyson looked really good when he was young but you have to remember he was fighting in the low and middle ranks when he stepped up and won the title from a very average Berbick and he started fighting at a higher level he didn't walk straight throu everybody and destroy them with one shot he was definitly a great however for heart skill and boxing ability both offensive and defensive Holyfield was the better fighter

antg 1,783
bonecrusher smith took tyson the full 12 rounds and made tyson look average imo. tyson was a brawler but hollyfield was a better allround fighter. ali... best heavyweight ever.
NEWKID 27,274
Just finishing tysons new autobiography, in his words, stuff I've read before has been by others... What a mixed up character he was/ is... The ghetto life was always there, he was a coke addict for most of his career, after cus died he didn't stop partying, shagging pro's, drinking, snorting gear, smoking coke the lot... Everyday, and the Last minute prep for fights... I loved watching the early Tyson, but the death of cus, ( who would seem to be the only person who cared for him) left him vulnerable and he was f****d over big time.. A better managed Tyson, who actually had the mind set required would have been a different story IMO... Very sad in many ways... As it stands you can't see past Ali as the best heavy ever IMO... clipo 871
comparing tyson to ali is like comparing best to ronaldo, different fighters, different eras and different people.............but both top drawer!!!!! end of the day either 1 could only beat what was put in front of them and the rest is history......

Totaly agree...just like Ali was over the hill when Holmes fought him...really says little about either fighter...but certainly clouds the judgement of Holmes on Tyson...as for both at their peak...i disagree...just my opinion. Tyson was never the same man after prison...if Holyfield would of fought him before then...Tyson would have beaten him easily
marky b 309
Part of being the best out there is giving it your all dedicating yourself one hundred percent mike tyson didn't. Who knows what would of happend if he did? for me there's too many excuses surrounding tyson to be classed as one of the all time greats Holyfield did dedicate himself that's why IMO he achieved more than tyson

Who knows what would of happend if he did? for me there's too many excuses surrounding tyson to be classed as one of the all time greats Holyfield did dedicate himself that's why IMO he achieved more than tyson Couldnt agree more.....i could of been the best chess player in the world IF.................i could of been the fastest sprinter in the world IF................if,but,s and maybe,s dont come into judging sports stars yet never in the history of sport has an athlete had more excuses given him than Tyson has.....i blame the era he dominated.... when boxing was watched free on tv by passing fans and the whole rocky story with his trainer and baddest man on the planet carry on had massive influence over impressionable youngsters. When you look at it head on what possible reason is there to think a man who never beat 1 great fighter...... could of beaten great fighters ....the 2 best fighters he faced beat him convincingly and they were not ALL TIME greats !.....Earnie Shavers is generally recognised as the hardest hitting heavyweight in history, yet nobody ever talks about him as being an all time great.....why ?.....because he was around when there was OTHER great heavyweights.....Tyson was around during the worst era in heavyweight history so gets spoken of in all time great terms......ive had conversations with old folk who remember the Ali era,a few who even remember the Louis era and say Tyson wouldnt of dominated in either......give him all the excuses you like....as George Foreman once said " i,ll take any excuse you are willing to give me......my shoes were too big ".............making excuses is not what a real champion ever does and to give the man credit its not something ive ever heard Tyson do.
