Pet Home For Working Dogs?

Recommended Posts

i got a phone call tonight from a very nice lady, shes the owner of a rescued salukix dog.she saw the ad i put up on donedeal and is very interested in taking a pup from the litter. As I bred the pups as workers,Im just wondering how folk feel placing their pups in to non hunting enviornment...I know the pup will have a great life, and have a family around it to care for its every need, but in one way I feel its a bit of a waste,it'll never have the fun of running a big rabbit all over the place, the crucial thing is that it will have a permanent home.on the other side of the coin i had some muppet asking for two pups for 50 euros ffs,and when I refused he offered me a 16 month 1st x saluki dog as a swop for a pup,so considering one against the other I think I just might have answered my own question  ..whats your view on the matter out of interest?

id pic a good pet home over a avrage or poor working home every time to meny cocks in the game, thay will stimerlat the pup in other ways

well the deed is done, met the lady and her husband and her 3 children, all full of enthusiasm and excitement.I felt likr fekin father christmas bringing their toys and gifts I was brought in and intr

In my opinion,....certain types of dog ,.working Sheepdogs, Cattle Dogs,.and perhaps a few exceptionaly driven,.'Battle dogs',...realy do need to have an outlet for their selectively bred urges,..but,

I think a good home is what matters most.and there's allot of Muppets out there that will buy a pup of ya and that could be chained up all the time as well as not been running big rabbits or anything atal.and on the other hand there's allot of good dog men out there that will do the same as us and give dog a good working and pet life.so if I'm been honest I leave it go to pet home.

seen loads of unhappy looking working dogs kept in shit conditions and treated like crap, don't see many pet type or rescue lurchers looking that miserable, a god home is a good home, weather it be working at best or as someones pride and joy, like previous poster says stimulate em different,

just for peace of mind I would let a pup go to a good pet home theres to many working dogs left to rot in pens etc when the owner gets bored or something else takes favour then there passed pillar to post but atleast in a pet home they become part of the family and seem contented with life even if they never run anything and after all you can only vet a working home so much and you know how many clowns come and go in this game

yeah, your are all right, the dogs best interest is top priority,i hope if she does buy she will keep in touch,i did throw her the line on my hunting hobby and she had no issues with folk hunting so hopefully we can keep in touch and i can see the pup grow up in the future.

Going by some of the adverts on here and Facebook etc i'd hazard a guess going to a pet home will stop it from being used as part of a swap, or up for sale in a few weeks / months, or left in a minging kennel when the next fad comes along for the bellend who bought it!

A good home and owner is the thing that matters working or pet home but on the other hand if was to breed a litter of pups it would be becouse me and close mates would want a pup form the selected dogs and I defo wouldn't be advertising dogs on the net it attracts all walks of life
