The Seeker 3,048
he was frowned upon by some SS officer caause he found a british escape funny. aye he certainly made an impression, even old churchill mentioned him 3 times in parliment. didnt stop him send the sas twice to kill him though lol no he wasnt a nazi your right, but was friendly with goebbels and thought it highly innapproriate of the british to send indians and other non whites to fight him. little did he know his own side were soon to adopt the same tactic lol Great warrior Rommel, was part of the plot to get rid of Hitler if memory serves me right and he was made to fall on his sword when it was found out wasn't he?I never worked that out, the Nazis were so against blacks, jews, gypies etc yet they adopted their own Indian regiment Here is Rommel inspecitng them
scothunter 12,609
he was an avid fan of Hitler,he became a bit flaky with him nearer the end though., had a few rows, and was ordered out of hitlers office.never went back to africa,. He then went on to build the defenses and the atlantic wall. he was always hinted by ones who were plotting hitlers death that he would be in charge of the armed forces and could negotiate talks with the british and yanks. but as far as the actual knowing of an assisination attempt very doubtfull. hitler at one point was just going to retire him,but it got back to him, that rommel had said to a junior officer hitler needed to negotiate peace, and if he didnt he would open up the western front to the allies.whether he was serious or not,who knows.it sealed his fate anyway.
Nik_B 3,790
One of the greatest tanks the tiger , Rommel wasn't a nazi I personally think the Panther was a much better tank but it was a late comer to the war. It had a much more modern design i.e. sloping armour and while the gun was smaller it was still highly effective especially against anything we had. The tiger was pure brute force, thick non-sloping armour and a bigger gun but much less maneuverable. It probably has a better success rate statistically because the Panther arrived too late for it to have worked through the design faults. . The panther was an urban warfare tank the tiger open battle field desert And farmlands. The germans expected to be fighting city to city and had the panther ready for this , the sherman out gunned the panther Sherman wasn't called the Tommy cooker for nothing it was a pile of shit tank that was only good for infantry support. The Panther was a state of the art tank fitted with a 75mm KwK 42/ L70 firing a a very high velocity round and was deadly on the battlefield far more advanced than the tiger but was a late comer to the Battle of Kursk where it suffered terrible mechanical faults. Basically it was faster, lighter, had a higher velocity gun and was produced in much higher numbers than the Tiger. The only Sherman that could come close to taking ona Tiger or Panther was the up-gunned Firefly
