newcomer88 86
Still got me other dogs just going to have a bit of time of the running dogs for a bit , this has cut me a bit too deep who knows what the future will bring , my dogs mean the world to me don't want to just replace him , they're not just tools to me maybe that's the wrong way to look at them but who's to make that decision , I'm not the 1st it's happened too and certainly not going to be the last but that doesn't make it any easier , would wish it on anybody Quote Link to post
silverfox55 2
I feel for you mate. One of the worst thing that can happen when you care for your dog. It happened to a dog of mine several years back.the only way to look at it is he went doing what he loved best. A short life but a good one. Working with a running dog is a partnership your right their not just a tool. It took a long time for me, my lad was seven and he wasn't even hunting at the time we were just out for a walk the day after a heavy storm and was just running around the field like they do and he ran onto a stick that had fallen from a tree and stuck in the ground. The point being I now have two great partners and we hunt as many nights the ground will allow. Don't give up these dogs need people like you to give them the life they were born for.
