Lurcher Started Chasing Sheep

Recommended Posts

How about putting her in a small enclosure with a couple of sheep and if she looks even sideways at them give her a right shouting or even a clip. Might as well give her a wee clip and see if that works instead of pts. (I am not promoting hitting dogs by the way)

Somewhere you have full control and she can't attack the

ive walked her through aload of sheep and clipped her with a lead as soon as she looks, no good lol

Shock Collar? Got to be worth a try as last resort?

afraid it takes longer than the weekend to use a e collar but they do work you must and I mean must use a dummy collar for a week at least then use the collar after that its so the dog doesn't act up

Just got to hope she doesn't run past any sheep. . . . .

If it's already killed a sheep. . . . I'd say your chances are pretty slim.

So you have a couple of options.

Pts

One last try with a collar, give her hell. A friend managed it.

If she is that good, and really worth it. Never let her off a lead near sheep. Ever.

My mate has a saluki grey. nightmare around sheep, always has been, no amount of training has stopped her doing it. So whenever hes around sheep shes on a lead. she walks calmly beside him on a lead, doesnt even look their way. But its as if as soon as the lead comes off, she thinks its game time if there is anything within the vicinity that she classes as 'fair game' she'll have it. sheep are the biggest she's gone for. fine with dogs, cracking on rabbits, even big fast ones ;) So all he does is lead her up in a field with sheep.

provided you're not a sheep farmer or running permission in fields where sheep will be while your dog runs, no major issue in my opinion. if shes a good worker dont PTS.

shouldnt matter wether she is a good worker or not if she cant be trusted near sheep , she should be pts ... you never know when your going to bump into sheep while out, a place i have perm for the last 5yr as never had sheep on then one day there was half a dozen of the feckers looking at me, because the farmer had rented his field out to a friend
