Accip74 7,112
I flew one til may, a male, but he was a very late bird, not ready until February so hence the late flying.........he then moulted out normally & I was back out in September. Thing is, all they do is pick off the young stuff cos it's easier......unless you car hawk corvids maybe.... Why do you want to do it mate? Quote Link to post
Ginger shooter 58
I dunno really it was just a thought! Would be good to have her out all year! As I put mine down march-sep/oct yeh I know bout quarry and that I understand if u do displays and take people out pest control etc! Just wondered if any one does! But as some people say u best of doing what u doing! And not changing it let her have a full moult Quote Link to post
Accip74 7,112
I say each to their own mate, if you wanna try it, why not? They'll always be someone give you all the obvious reasons why you shouldn't, at least with a harris you don't have to worry too much about the feathers....... What I will say is.......despite the reasons regarding the bird, I think it's good for the falconer to have a break, & come back with renewed enthusiasm in September.... 1 Quote Link to post
Ginger shooter 58
Fully understand that mate! Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
If you want to do it mate, crack on, but as accip74 says, I personally want a break, if it was me doing it I would try to stick at the bunnies and nothing else, a spot of summer lamping might be fun. charlie caller 3,654
Why not then, look at it this way, slow moult - fit bird, or faster moult- unfit bird, let us know how you find it, will be an interesting experiment. Quote Link to post
