Giro 2,648
Any links of them alarms being sprung ?? Are they just used at night or can they be set and used in the day ?? Think folk would have to risk assess when and where to set them... My neighbours kids kick balls into mine.. They knock on the door but sure when they know I am out they will fire over the fence.. greenman 221
Alarms guns can be set whenever they are just a blank firing black powder cartridge or you can cut the shot off a live cartridge and fit that in if you have a sgc as they are cheaper. The new ones are designed so a live cartridge can't be fitted, this could easily be modified, bravado aside you won't be able to stop anyone nicking your dogs while your inside for setting a live cartridge in a gun, besides one day in a hurry you may forget it's there, I've done it with blanks which is bad enough. In my grandads day the keeper would take the end of a cartridge and pack it with wheat then set the alarm gun in a bush next to the ride over an upside down metal bin lid, when set of firing wheat in all directions, painful but not lethal. If you set them in a door way I find a wire fishing trace the best, fine enough not to see and doesn't stretch so instant bang. Rather than setting to one side of a door if they are set on the door frame above the handle you will find a rather unpleasant jet of flame comes down where the arm of the person pushing the door is. You have set the 'alarm' correctly as a noise dire rent according to the manufacturers instructions and are therefore not liable for any injury. If the intruder is really unlucky and the trace is a little longer they head may be under it? I have had 2 unsuccessful attempts on my shed, on both instances the dogs barking meant I was out there as the security lights came on. It's a sad state of affairs we have to keep our dogs and tools which provide for our families in Fort Knox. Quote Link to post

2.8 guy 403
Theres a couple of things you can do, one being micro chipping the other is tattooing, the micro chipping is good if you have a adult dog the tattooing is only for pups, and there is a organisation called the national dog tattoo register that will come out to your home and do your pups. Both these methods will tie a dog to a person, but ive heard it said off people they would not want that because what if my dog causes a accident, what if im out poaching and my dog gets caught, in my opinion these are not valid reasons for not getting your dog chipped. And most local authority's hold chipping days for free. There is another thing that we all could be doing and this is to lobby parliment to change the law, by making theft of your dog into kidnap which would increase sentence and possibly be a deterant, this has been talked about and im sure someone will be able to find a link Quote Link to post
STRANGER 948
Best thing to do is read that thread that's just been locked about the Vinnie dog. It reads like a 'how to' manual of getting your dogs stolen f***ing brainless clowns. 4 Quote Link to post
