Well things are looking up slowly but at least things are slowly taking place all the same a long road ahead of us but hopefully something at the end worth waiting for... For who ever dont know my brindle bitch came of worse whilst running a rabbit which isnt normally her quarry but as it was summer time running nothing else was on the menu not forgeting the ban also :notworthy: I took full advantage of what normal people would call a shit summer being so wet and not very warm and thought i would go and cull a few conies on a farm that i work on.of Things where looking good with plenty of rabbits about, they was very quick of the mark so after 2 slips from two other dogs no result so i slipped the brindle bitch next who flew just as she went to pick it up of the hedge row she clattered in to a fence and screamed hobbling back to me i could see the bottom half of her leg swinging like it was attached only by the skin not a nice sight - instant swelling and to feel the knuckle it wasnt pleasant instant thoughts where to PTS as soon as possible purely because we all know after severe breaks dogs never or nearly never make full recovery and the bitch is 3 years old and certainly not the most understanding when it comes to having a night of so for her sake she had to go...After deep thoughts the vet was on my mind. Looking and feeling it myself wasnt enough for me so on monday morning middle of july saw me calling the vet out at 1am ££££££££££ the money wasnt the problem it was the dogs best interest and knowing she wouldnt settle in to retirement i knew things wasnt looking good..The vet saw the bitch had a good feel and confirmed a break but it was a break that was in the best place and extremely succesful with full recovery on the cards after an operation...I explained if the xray shows any complications and a high chance of never working again the bitch was to be put to sleep but it turned out she had actually dislocated the bottom part of the leg which had stretched all her tendons and ligaments so there was no break after all although a dislocation can prove just as tragic they where all confident she will in time go back to a full recovery and carry on her tracking career.I will vow never to run her on a rabbit again as thats not what she`s here for i have rabbiting dogs i will now only use her for tracking hopefully things hold up for her fingers crossed she was only 3 in april so hopefully many more happy seasons sorry for boring everyone but hey thats life :bye:

6 weeks after still in her splint..
