This is why, today, dog chipping is so very important.

I don't think the RSPCA would return a working dog to a working home even if it was chipped.

I can understand why people get there dogs chipped, especially with all the dog thefts of late but I personally wouldn't get mine chipped because I think it could create you a lot of unwanted interest if the dog is showing signs of heavy work.

Maybe I'm being paranoid but it's just something I have always thought about, even when I was young I would never put a name tag on with my address on a dog, but that was because I was always somewhere I wasn't meant to be lol.

A friend of mine on here got his dog back as a direct result of chipping, he thinks a lot of his animals..........

I think a lot of my animals and every time I take them out of there kennels I know I could loose one but it's something I've learned to accept.

Chipping is a good idea in most cases but I know it could cause some major problems if every dog we own was chipped.

Lucky.....who said anything about chipping it in your name? An elderly relative is the best owner of a dog. Soon it's going to be law and , beleive me, you have a far greater chance of getting your dog back if its chipped. 'Lost' posters are not worth the time as these scum dye and shave dogs to change their appearance.
