I dig holes for a living mate iv got loads of shovels off work but they are shit compered to the ones I was getting made just wondered if anyone off here new who made decent ones cheers for the advice tho mate

Those yank ones are very well made and will last a lifetime but they don't have enough of a scoop on them - they'd need more of an angle too to be perfect.

They seem a bit long at first but are fine really.

 

Carter are about the best I've found - still though they're not perfect -

I use the 10" wide type - wouldn't mind a narrower one too.

I got mine a few years ago - it didn't have the integrated threads so make sure you don't get the old stock from where ever you buy.

have you tried the bulldog site, they do grafters and decent digging tools.

good robust spade for tough ground got a nice bend on to so you dont spill much get a bit cold on the hands and get abit slippy when muddy and wet apart from that spot on will last a long time

A lad I know has one says they do rust so they not fully 'stainless' also a foot longer than the standard big bulldogs, they must be long! Not bad if your 8 foot I suppose
