Maybe if holiday companies were banned from using the disgraceful tactics they use to extort money from families they wouldnt have to resort to things like this just to have a normal family holiday wi

Personally. I don't think the old regulations were changed for education reasons,,, the old rules were you could have an extra 10 days,,,it seems to me this is just about making school attendance reco

What a load of bullshit ... They are my kids not the governments not the schools ?.. I should be able to take them out of school whenever I wanted ........

I take my kid out of school all the fecking time, and always will. There are often more important things happening in our lives than school ffs. I wont let my lad miss out on special events that happening outside of school. some things are far more valuable than learning a load of mind numbing shite day in day out. lol

Well you don't want your kids to miss out being brainwashed about the EU, climate change and gay marriage now would you

Dont get me started mate,my son is 5 years old and they wanna teach him about fecking muslims :censored: to say i went mad is an understatement. Why the fecking hell does a 5 year old need to know about that :censored:

Home school him then if you want to censor his education that much.

Because state education is great...oh wait :hmm:

Schools will always vary in quality but things can be improved with the level of interaction and support provided by the parents / guardians at home.

If you have an issue with the quality of your child's teachers then take it up with the head. If you want your child to get ahead vs their classmates then work more with them at home. If you want them to get a top job then find the money to send them to a better school.

If you don't agree with them learning about 'fecking muslims' as you put it then just sign them up for the 'Young EDL' That'll help install that blinkered viewpoint a bit faster. Or just pull them out of school and run your own curriculum.

Lets get one thing straight i have not got a problem with muslims or any race, but do 5 year olds really need to be learning that at their age,not imo.Maths, english etc yes but surley cultural stuff can wait a couple of years.I did take this up with the head teacher and to be fair she could see my point but i quote "her hands were tied" and that is what they are told to include so they do!I just cant for the life of me see why a child that has only been in full time education 5 months needs to learn this stuff now, surley there are more long term benificial things to be starting with!!

Personally, I don't agree with that......education is one of the most important things to me for my kids.......yes sometimes it's boring for them, yes it's a drag sometimes but as I always say to them "it's easy to be ordinary, that takes no effort at all"

I was released from full time education at 14 because I was a complete dick and have knocked my bollocks out since a week after that, but if I had the education knowing what I know now, I would never have to work again.

Each to their own but it's school, school, school for mine

They need to learn maths and English not how to wear a condom or what to eat.

Go ask people who work in education, my entire family does and it's a total disgrace.

Nik, my kids go to a faith school and although they learn about other religions they don't teach about homosexuality or any thing like that.

I know a lot of people slag faith schools but by and large they are working beyond the equivelant C of E school.

Teachers have to deal with so much crap (especially head teachers) and not least from thick as shit parents who expect schools to do everything and them to not have to put any effort in at all.

It's alright when it's genuine and occasional.

But in the school I work in, you get kids with something like a 25% attendance or less. . . . . and most of the rest is 'authorised absences' . . . . . i.e the parents don't give a f**k and say its fine to f**k school off. To stop themselves getting done by the EWO (Educational Welfare Officer) and taken to court. A lot were saying the kid is ill, but a lot of illness and no reasons and social services may be called, or preventative services etc. So then they were saying, it was a holiday, visiting relatives etc. So the fines stop that to an extent. . . .

But if the school knows it IS a holiday and its like the only 2 weeks the kids had off this year, they usually let them crack on.

WILF, surely there should be a degree of flexibility allowed to parents that show they are putting in the time with their childs studies? Why is making it a criminal offence necessary? It just screams of target met policy over rulling common sense to me.

I can totally see where you're coming from and don't think they need to be overtly teaching the differences about Islam and Christianity and such like but I think it doesn't hurt to be open and provide a grounding for these types of differences. It could very well be that children are turning up to schools and finding their first experience of other cultures and skin colours. By talking through some of the differences (in a way that 5 year olds can understand) it can help promote more tolerances and therefore a more harmonious classroom (putting the mayhem of five year olds to one side for a moment).

Of course, that can all be undone by slightly more blinkered views when the child gets home.

I probably don't need to tell you mate that "degrees" of a rule never work, it's either a rule or it isn't
