terryd 8,551
My nan makes a mean welsh cake nans always cook the best food haha I did go through johnnyboys in the fishing trip like a trainmind haha ain't that the truth my grans cooking was amazing. She made a veg stew of some sort and a crispy suet pudding. I have never yet been able to get close to it. Pretty sure it had chickpeas in or maybe even beans. Used to polish off plates of the stuff after a day out with the dogs as a kid. As for her yorkshire puddings well I ain't got no chance

NEWKID 27,278
Was up Nantgarw for a meeting few weeks back... they brought out welsh cakes with the cuppa, not as nice as Johnnys but not bad
johnny boy68 11,726
The art of a good Welsh cake is to wrap them in a tea towel when you take them off the heat, it helps to keep them nice and fluffy. Thats where they these mass produced ones fall short imo and even though they keep well after cooking you won't get a better Welsh cake than one thats just been cooked. I'm gonna have to make some now.
Malt 379
I bought the stuff for a batch just before Christmas, good job it's only stuff that keeps forever in the fridge and the cupboard!
walshie 2,804
If anyone wants to send me a batch, I'll happily give them my critique and rate them as "same as", "better than" or "worse than" JB's. No charge.
