optelic2 48
Iv e owned a 1.6l petrol vitara a diesel foutrack, Disco td5 , Diesel Freelander and now have an o4 plate swb 2.0l diesel grand Vitara. The 2.0l vitara is the best ive owned. Its better on fuel than all the others is nice and light/reliable and although only the short wheel base version the back seats fold flat and i get all my shooting gear in in. gpreen 6
I had the same thoughts re the vitara that it was a little small in the back until I found my xl7 goes well off road but I think would do better with some better shoes
davyo 27
My first 4x4 was the grand vitara, spent £300 getting the sills done, put 2x sunroofs in £40, & £20 of nato green, stuck a set of dakars on it and it is brilliant. With the seats down there is ample room.Never had any problems.

Nik_B 3,790
Range Rover P38 granted you'll need a mortgage to maintain it and a second mortgage to feed it but they can be nice cars and they're virtually given away for nothing....no idea why
Lab 10,979
Defender is a crap 4x4. It needs money threw at it to be good off road, even more money threw at it to be COMFORTABLE on road. Then there is extra maintenance and RUST A crap 4x4??? This a joke? Set of tyres like any jeep needs and you'll not get better. As for comfort I agree.

Got to agree the defender is the best with a set of good tyres they wernt made for comfort but put a heavy duty clutch, set of bf Goodrich, winch, snorkel, bash plate and they will take you anywhere. But they aren't cheap. Heard good things about the jimny though.

Set of tyres like any jeep needs and you'll not get better. As for comfort I agree. i agree with you lab, they are a mighty machine, an agricultural vehicle!! i had one for a couple of years, they do need maintenance when they push on in years but parts are very cheap for them nowadays. i dont think any jeep is a good option if you have a small budget, they all cost good money to keep em going, especially if used as only mode of transport. ive had landcruisers, a pajero(very short time) ford ranger, hiluxs, a defender, now i have a 2.2 crdi 4x4 honda crv and its the dogs bollox. took out back seats and converted to commercial, cheap as a car on fuel, oceans of power to tow and pretty decent off road, obviously not as good as an all out 4x4 but hasnt got bogged on me yet! porkybella 284
My defender who ever says these are shit 4x4s obiously are jealous and cannot afford one 100% best 4x4 out there they are loud and uncomfortable but put sound deadning and bucket seats bobs ur uncle
tomburras 2,730
I'd recommend the landy 90 too, I love mine -the best thing if ever baught! Fixing and improving it is all part of the fun! They are umberlivable off road and great fun on road. Don't think I'll ever have anything else now.
